Overall Average Rating: 85.62%
Position in the Top 100 cars: 39th

The A4 has proved a big hit with buyers over the years, but it seems not every owner is a satisfied customer.

While build quality is rated highly – 23rd is a good result – reliability is below par, running costs are on the high side, and practicality gets a thumbs-down.

One of the best cars I have ever owned, very comfortable and feels safe. Option features all work well although the HVAC is noisy through the face level vents (A known issue with this model) Great seats with full range of adjustability. Good fuel economy considering the engine tune and 4WD. Gear selection into first can at time bulk but overall the transmission including the 4WD is fine. The 4WD does give extra confidence particularly in bad weather conditions however if the car does get away from you in the dry it is not always easy to control particularly if it is at high speed. Interior and exterior has worn well although there is signs that in places on the front valance where the ‘clear coat’ has been punctured by sharp objects the coating has lifted. Great car and I will replace it with the newer model but with just a few more bhp than its current 260bhp.

I have owned 5 Audi's and 2 VW's over the years. This Audi in 2.5 years has cost more in maintainence than the other 6 put together. Unfortunately it is no longer economical to own one. Previous repairs were done locally by a trusted mechanic. this car 2002 things like serpentine belt replacement needed a 200Km tow in. Timing belt costs have gone from around $500.00 to over $2000.00. The sun roof sticks, the entire brake master cylinder had to be replaced as it filled with water and froze. The list is endless.

Very over rated car. Prices for buying new and servicing too high considering the mediocre build quality and performance. Can't afford to buy the same model again due to price increases. Dealers ok but prices rip off and approach very arrogant. Real life MPG no where near the published figures. Can buy Chevrolet 300C for less money. Will consider VW Passat CC as its better value for money and has more kit for less money.

Excellent so far, ride is not as hard than my B7 estate (Now B8 Saloon) and the build quality is excellent. Looks superb as an S Line black saloon. Added quite a lot of options and can see the car being a let down without them.
Just disappointing it will have spent 2 days in the dealers to replace a £25 part under warranty and the economy isn't that great even with the 2.0Tdi 143 and stop/start

Fantastic combination of solid, dependable torque and fuel economy. A understated, but stylish and well-engineered: all-round supremely capable... all it needs is through-loading back seats and it would be perfect.... next car will be another TDI Audi Quattro, either an A4 Saloon (with the through loading seats), the A4 Avant.... or most likely, the A5 Sportback (Hatchback)....

What a car!! Mine is the Audi RS4 and it is the easiest cat that I have ever driven, flexible 6th gear 30mph whithout a judder and 0 to 60 in under 5 Seconds when required with bags of toque! What more coudl I want a luxury crusier with room! Not only that but a sound system that puts many a home system in the shade. Thank you Audi!

S4 model with Tiptronic, Quattro, Avant 4.2 V8 etc is just perfect.
Audi dealers / service less so unfortunately but not too bad on this car.
I might well replace with a newer model but used.
A bit expensive but worth it. A car for the enthusiastic if not expert driver - and it runs in ice & snow, not like a BMW.

Cars are great
performance and reliability was excellent
mpg is good for high performance v8
06 onwards handling was much improves over previous version

- customer service is appauling
will never buy an audi again because of the bad customer service no matter if you have a 5k car or a 50k car like I have had.

Overall, a very reliable car, but not a practical estate (big hatchback!!) V6 diesel and Quattro drive don't help economy although its a pleasure to drive. Some corrossion issues which surprised me, and still to be dealt with. Looks good, and would buy another.

Fantastic, it's a 2.0 turbo Special Edition - 220PS with Quattro - holds the road like glue, great in the snow, doesn't get rocked by puddles etc. does 32 mpg average and 38 on a "run" - frankly this car is hard to beat at the price (£21K)

Nice car that is stylish, comfortable and economical. Economical that is other than the Continental tyres fitted as standard. 12000 miles max from fronts even with very careful driving. Dunlops give me 20,000. Dealer is excellent.

THE LATEST MODEL OF A4 AVANT IS THE BEST YET (I'VE HAD THREE OF THEM OVER THE LAST 6 YEARS) - WAITING FOR THE NEXT UPDATE TO EXCEED IT - ALWAYS ASSUMING THAT THE AUDI ENGINEERS AND DESIGNERS CAN DO IT, OF COURSE!
