2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

First 15 months and 12500 miles were ok and then the problems started. intermittent refusal to start, rough running. two attempts at warranty repair has not cured this, and the third attempt at a warranty repair is still not resolved after two weeks at a ford service agent! Mpg achieved is not what I expected from official figures even with conservative use of the accelerator and using brakes as little as possible.

04-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

15 unsuccessful attempts to date by Ford main dealer to correct hesitation / excessive smoke and going into limp mode. Over £1000 spent on warranty claims in 12 months with no fix lasting more than 2 weeks.

Ford customer services say it's out of 3 year warranty and therefore not their problem to find a long term fix. This is outrageous on a car that's less than 5 years old.

04-reg Petrol, Owner for More than 5 years

Gret car to drive, roomy, reasonably equipped, comfortable. Other than air con which has broken down so many times I have given up on it, the car has been ultra reliable until about 102,000 when it died on me twice. Has some flat spots when pulling from low revs SOMETIMES. Average fuel consumption has risen in the last few thousand miles from about 37 to 34.

58-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I love the c-max. The only issue is that it has a slight dashboard rattle on poor road surfaces. The 1.6 litre engine can feel rather underpowered on some roads but is perfectly adequate on normal drives around town. Overall I like it but I would class it as a true family car. I will probably replace it with a Citroen c4 picasso or berlingo multispace.

2004-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Since owning the car it has been very reliable except for replacing x2 rear brake calipers which I knew wehere required and used as a bargaining tool when purchashing. other than that fine. Insurance is a little bit more pricey than what I was paying for my previous astra but the fuel consumption and tax cost are very good for the size of the car.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 3/5
2007-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

It is a very reliable car. the only expense I have so far put out on it is for tyres, mot, and servicing. the usual, expected costs. The car is pretty good with regards to running costs. as long as I drive sensibly and smoothly, with no hard acceleration and not above 70mph the running cost is fine.

55-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

It has turned out to be a very reliable & economical car that has been fun to drive & own, can't see any reason why anybody would want a bigger engine than this.
The only downside is the paintwork, especially the sills as they get peppered by road grit & need repainting after winter.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 3/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I had 6 dealer visits for an electrical problem with the climate control but once it was fixed (on the 7th occasion but by a different dealer) it's been fine. Company car and except for the poor(ish) fuel economy it's only has 2 new tyres @ 20,000 miles.

Reliability: 3/5 Build Quality: 5/5
04-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

For small MPVs, I 've had Scenic before. The CMAX is far superior all round. I've driven Picassos often - they are poor build compared to CMax. Just make sure you get one thats had the alternator replaced!

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 4/5
06-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Apart from a sticking ERG valve which ford eventually replaced when the warranty had almost expired, prevoiusly they just sprayed it with WD 40 and said 'it is fine now sir'. I have had no problems.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 4/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Starter motor/flywheel replaced. ecu replaced. door lock replaced. various other problems which there should not be on a modern, ex-mobility car. Mpg not as expected. spares seem to be overpriced.

Reliability: 1/5 Build Quality: 4/5
05-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

good car but within 3 years of its life its needed a new clutch & new starter motor plus numerous niggly things - not great service from the dealer either, overall not impressed by this Ford

Reliability: 1/5 Build Quality: 2/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Owned for 20 months, approx. 10k miles in that time, no problems. I've owned several diesels including an older cmax. current cmax has slightly worse mpg than the last one but acceptable.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 4/5
2005-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

I find this car very reliable - but apparently there is a known issue with the auto gearbox. Reasonably priced ford (or other) parts... good mpg, cheap insurance and average tax etc.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 4/5
04-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

generally i have been very happy with the car. It is good to drive, economical, spacious and generally reliable. It is let down by a slightly harsh ride and brittle finish.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 3/5
2010-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Totally reliable apart from electric steering pump whine - replaced under warranty. Ok. cheap to insure. road fund tax ok.fuel not problem as mileage is low.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 5/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Not yet a year old and have had no problems at all, may have more to tell next year. It is a deisel so not bad but as it is an auto seems to eat more fuel.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 4/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

In the main it's reliable, the aircon unit leaked and it took 5 visits to the garage to be diagnosed and then 3 units before one was fitted without leaks

Reliability: 3/5 Build Quality: 3/5
2006-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

As yet never let me down and again as yet has not cost me above normal running costs. Not good around town but on a run 6th gear mode saves me a lot.

I have owned this car for just 3 weeks but there are problems that the dealer has promised to sort out. Too new to give a constructive answer.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 3/5

In general goes well but have had a few niggly electronic problems. I do not get anywhere near the manufacturers claims for mpg.
