59-reg Petrol, Owner for Less than a year

One of the best cars that I have owned. Previously had a Saab 95, in terms of quality the i30 is comparable. On top of this the car is a fantastic work horse. It has stood up fantastically well to family life, not a single trim rattle reliability niggle in over 13,000 miles of ownership. The completence of this car has taken me by surprise, whilst the equipment tally of the Style model is excellent. The USB dock for your i-pod is an excellent illustration of how well thought out this car is. The 1.6 petrol is refined and quick an extra gear on the motorway would enhance the driving experience further. I understand that the diesel is the better engine, but I have no complaints relating to the diesel.

Well engineered, very well built, comfortable, quiet and spacious. Extremely well equipped for the price. Reliable, safe and good to drive. Climate-controlled air con and sound system work better than expected. Overall, I'm very pleased with the car, but jiggly ride on bad roads and mediocre fuel consumption are minor negatives. I chose the 1.4 petrol version as I do low mileage, but it is a touch gutless compared with the diesel, and the gear ratios are low to give adequate performance, and it can seem a bit buzzy sometimes. But it has a light and precise gear change, so it's no problem to keep it in the right gear.

There have been no problems but admittedly it is low mileage and I ensure that it gets some long runs. I am disappointed that even though I do many short runs (2-4 miles)that the automatic cannot do better than this. there seems to have been no improvement over the years in this form of automatic transmission.

Came back to Hyundai after owning Imprezas for a decade and I am prouder of my i30 Premium Sport than any of the Scoobs. Brilliant, massively underrated car, first time I have ever got to a year and a half of ownership and not started getting bored.

Love it, love it , love it.

Washer pump died at 18 months. leak in air con condenser at just under 5 years. both fixed for free under warranty. otherwise no problems. Infive years I've only had to pay for a set of tyres and the front pads to be replaced 55000 miles.

I have owned the car for 4 years and apart from regular servicing the car has not had any faults which would deem it to be unreliable. Running costs such as tax and insurance are fine but servicing costs can be a little steep.

Two bodywork faults have just materialised in the last year. one is definitely a design fault mechanically sound. Only 3 annual services done so far by local dealer at reasonable cost.

No problems yet. Apart from routine services, only parts needed are two sets of wiper blades (ł10.50 each pair) and one pair of tyres (ł125) at 27000 miles. pads/discs still good.

It does the job... relatively efficient to run, fine to drive, reliable so far. This is the second i30 we have had, the better of the two was the previous one (diesel).
