04-reg Petrol, Owner for More than 5 years

Freelander 1 got a lot of bad press, but this 04 model (my second Freelander), now approaching 6 years old, has been a great car for me.

I actually think the old Freelander looks smarter than the Freelander 2, which is why I'm waiting for the facelift (possibly 12 months or so) before I replace my car.

The only real critisism is that stoware space is poor - the glove boxes are just a joke. Can just about carry a Turkish Delight - at a push!

58-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Given the type of vehicle I have chosen, I have no complaints at all. Yes, it's thirsty and built like a brick but I knew that before purchase. It is not as "Enjoyable" as my Range Rover Sports hence the "Maybe" buy again - it's a lovely car but not a Range Rover Sports !!! Only one fault and I waited until the 1st service so no inconvenience.

Y-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Rough diamond. The car had a water leek that was a common fault. Unfortunately the garage I used was unaware of the fault and therefore did not diagnose it for 3 years. After the car overboiled I took it to a different garage who identified the fault immediately. The leek led to head gasket failure and a two thousand pound bill.

08-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

Really pleased we decided on a proper 4x4, which was chosen for its towing ability, but was great in recent snow/ice.

Had a diesel leak in the first week of ownership, which took weeks to repair, but had a replacement car for the entire period (and tow bar fitted at reduced cost as a goodwill gesture by dealer).

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 5/5
08-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Excellent overall. The more technical cars become, the more likely they are to suffer occasional problems. Problems, whilst inconvenient, aren't the end of the world as long as the manufacturer and their dealerships resolve them in a highly Customer focused manner.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 3/5
W-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years

It is a good car for countryside living. If you want to go on motorways you will be sticking to the speed limits or straining your engine.
It is not built for speed but was fantastic in the recent snow, my neighbours were stuck in there houses but i had no problems

2009-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

As I have only had the freelander since 21st may 2012 so far reliable, good fuel consumption , drives easy, some running car, only slight fault a little jiggly if thats the right word on uneven country roads. Only costs so far is fuel and .5lt oil over 5,500 mile.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 5/5
2011-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

No real problems apart from a very intermittent speaker issue that is taking time to fix due to its intermittent nature. Fuel consumption is good on a run but takes a big hit around town. servicing not good value for money.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 4/5
2008-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Excellent all round vehicle. probably the best land rover product I have ever owned. On a par with most 4x4 vehicles. I have no problems with running costs though dealership servicing rates are on the "heavy" side.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 5/5
08-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I am very pleased with my car although it was a compromise because of where we live. I would buy the same again but would have to buy a better specification as I luxuries that I had on my previous Jaguar.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 3/5
Y-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Overall quight good realabity withough the problems of earleer freelanders reasionabley easy to work on if you have the equipment to read the codes. For the type of car pulls and handels very well .

Reliability: 3/5 Build Quality: 4/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Faultless at 42,000 miles - well done landrover, the most reliable car I have ever owned. 40,000 miles plus on the original tyres. next to no replacement parts. serviced once a year - fair costs.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 5/5
51-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Thought landrovers were supposed to be almost bomb proof and last forever, not this one, had more problems with this car than any other i have had. great car to drive though so such a shame

Reliability: 1/5 Build Quality: 3/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 5/5
2010-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

No problems with actual running but had a few mechanical and electrticak faults. I.e. door lock, electric windows. Mpg not as good as expected and nowhere near the "book" figures.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 3/5
2005-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Its fair but wing mirror's, windows and locks seem to be a problem. Due to the fact I do very little mileage the cost are ok, I would struggle if I covered large distances..

Reliability: 3/5 Build Quality: 3/5
2011-reg Petrol

Sadly it doesn't like cold wet weather. poor starter in mornings or after a run. If this includes replacement parts then a 2 year old car should be more reliable.

Reliability: 2/5 Build Quality: 2/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

No faults during the time I have owned the car, starts every time and passed mot with no failures or advisories. Running cost are more or less what I expected.
