It is very comforable to drive and lots of space. The issue has been the electrics - sensors and the fact that unlike a washing machine when it goes wrong you are likely to be able to negotiate a replacement. With cars the process to awful. Purchasers are at the mercy of dealers who don't seem to care about the fact that large sum of money has been spent on goods which are essentially faulty. The car has been in many times for the same problem. i will get rid of it and change dealership and manufacturer.

I drive a creamy smooth 3.0 litre petrol Renault Laguna. After 7 years and 125k miles, it is still a joy to drive. Have had problems with ignition coils burning out, but I believe this is not a strictly Renault problem (coils manufactured by third parties). The 5 speed gear box is delicious and predictable. Renault is extremely savvy when it comes to interior design and weight saving techniques. I have my eye on the new Laguna coupe

I will never buy another Renault as long as I live. Car is so unreliable. Have had 3 key cards in the past 3 years. each time they broke so the car could not be locked remotely. Each time, just after 12 months. Dealer not in the slightest bit interested. Also, new starter motor, new alternator, numerous MOT failures due to suspension/steering faults. Will get rid as soon as the funds allow. Just feel sorry for whoever buys it.

Despite renault's reputation, this has been a reliable vehicle for the last ten years. few problems. coils have gone occasionally. front springs twice in 10 years. generally v. reliable. Uses a lot of fuel round town (circa mid 20s mpg but good on motorway of driven well (circa high 30s mpg). parts reasonable priced on the whole.front tyres wear unevenly (despite tracking), which means replacing them more than I'd like.

I believed Renault Vehicles were reliable until I purchased a Laguna Automatic and have had loads of electrical engine management problems and an electric window failure that cost £315.00 for a window motor! I would never buy a Renault again as I average only 28-30 MPG for a 1.8 Litre Auto. Friends get 32-35 in 2.0 Litre Ford Mondeos. So it is no to the French from now on...

53-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Appart from several problems experienced especially with broken road springs and odd electrical glitches I still like the car. It is in the main comfortable and the engine is excepionally good particularly as it has now completed almost 180k miles. As it is most likely to be my last vehicle I am hoping that it will last me until I leave this mortal plain.

53-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

overall its been pretty reliable for an estate vehicle, the only major problem we have encountered, was that the heating stopped working shortly after we brought the car.
the garage where we bought it from ( PGI Farnham ) did eventually fix the car but took over 5-weeks to do so.

Reliability: 1/5 Build Quality: 4/5
2010-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

In the last six months the garage has has my car two to three months of the time and renault never have the parts and they have to be made specially in france each time with enormous delays. Car which is diesel does far less miles per gallon than similar cars of it's size.

I can't believe a Renault Lauguna estate feels so... "grown up" - Very practical, easy to both use & live with. The 150 Bhp gives excellent performance / economy for typical family use.
Far better build quality than previous model.
the kids love the glass roof

Easy to drive. Sluggish exceleration from 1.8 litre engine. Final drive gear ratio could be higher. 1994 but still looks reasonably modern. More reliable than the version that superseded it.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 4/5
2008-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

No problems at all so far (10 months ownership). Parts have been reasonable for servicing, the economy is awful but only what I'd expect from this type of car (turbo petrol large automatic).

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 4/5
2005-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

I have had problems with the electrics, automatic handbrake, tracking rods, brake calipers, bonnet catch, boot release. I get good mpg and the servicing costs are relatively cheap.

has needed quite a lot of stuff doing to it, although its an estate theres hardly any room in the back for the kids and its very hard to fit baby seats that arent isofix in.

It's "OK" performance could be better, had series of recurring electrical faults, not major but annoying. Would probably go for something like a Honda or Mazda next time.

Never missed abeat, totally reliable. Apart from 2 new front tyres ł220 at 27000 and main dealer service ł180 has had very little spent on it with exception of fuel.

Given the price I bought it for it has been a very good purchase and has given good service in comparison in competitors bought by friends at around the same time.

Every year it has needed work for the mot which has cost approx. ł400. it needs track rod ends every year to pass. Cost of repairs and maintenance are high.
