Megan convertible which lets in water. Has been back to saleroom about 5 times, still unresolved. they have found that the air conditioning was leaking into car and fixed it, then the wing mirrors were allowing water to leak in. it now fills with condensation on a cold morning and there is often ice inside on roof window and front screen. they are not sure what the problem now is, but i am dismayed that they have kept the car over a week last time and returned it without being able to resolve the problem.
the salesman tells me that leaking is a common problem with them and that i should avoid using a pressure washer on it!!
also has gone back a number of times under warantee for creaks in doors and roof. problems resolved for a short time but then return.

i am pleased with the economy, boot space, styling and performance! and that it is a convertible with a hard top.

The model is a 1.9dci. I have had absolutely no problems at with the car mechanically and I have the belief that it will start every morning (it does). However, the driver's window has caused bother on three occasions and has been repaired promptly by the local Renault dealer. This is a nuisance more than anything but still very annoying. I also had the same fault with my previous Megane (the same model but a two door).
The car handles well, has good performance and roadholding. It's a car I enjoy taking on long trips as it is comfortable and economical - have taken both to Italy.

2001-reg Petrol, Owner for more than 5 years

Overall our scenic is very reliable, apart from the top dead centre sensor which has been replaced twice and the ignition coils which have been replaced twice (and these are known faults with this model) we have never had problems. this year when going on holiday to dorset, we had to negotiate flooded roads and the car never faltered. we rate our car very highly. For an automatic we consider we do well on mpg, motorway travelling is quite economical and we have never felt ripped off for spare parts.

I love my car: she handles like a dream, fast off the blocks, manoeuvrable, heats up quickly, and she's relatively economic to drive - but the windscreen has never fitted properly and it took a year for Renault Ilford to fix reverse gear, which was broken from new. Once I stopped going to Renault Ilford I stopped having problems with repairs. However, road humps have twice destroyed the suspension (and are doing *my* body no good at all). And I hate the new-look Megane!

51-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Can be a real amount of fun but with a high price in terms of fuel consumption, even though its only a 1600cc motor. It struggles if more than 2 people are in the car and never will it be able to handle a full supermarket shop as the boot space is just way too small! So i cant even think about a nice sound system for it! But for a first car i cant really complain for the price i got it, as they say you get your moneys worth!

Reliability: 2/5 Build Quality: 3/5
03-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years

overall the car has been very good , but the electrics have been very bad indeed, electric windows havent worked for years, and the card ignition system in totally useless and they have still fitted it into the new megane model, over the years of ownership many people have said to me about buying a renault and i always give the same answer, dont bother.

Reliability: 1/5 Build Quality: 2/5
2006-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Various electrical problems some of which fix themselves, failed alternator and starter motor. loose engine mount. poorly headlamp bulb retention design means the bulbs stop working and have to be refiitted fairly regularly. Uses tyres quite heavily. mpg could be better given engine size and type of driving. some spares are pricey.

Reliability: 2/5 Build Quality: 2/5
2001-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Hardly had any problems with this car and when I need it to respond, it sure does. its come to my families rescue many a time, and towed them in all weather conditions. Tax is good as is insurance. cost of petrol is ridiculous as I'm sure most drivers will complain about. average fill up from empty is around 65 - 70 quid.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 5/5
2004-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

No issues with reliability. car needed track rod end for mot that was all. for a car on 85k miles I didn't think that was bad. owned the car over a year. Averages 48mpg on my route (both by the trip and by calculations) which is ok. on long trips if driven correctly I can get 57-60mpg. recently to devon I got 58mpg..

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 3/5
2012-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

The build quality is excellent and it feels like this car will last forever. everything about it speaks quality and reliability. I haven't had to spend money on parts or servicing as the car is a company owned car. however, from friends who own renualt cars I understand that prices are very reasonable.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 5/5
09-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

As this is the previous model Megane I would have expected all the faults to be ironed out. It is a reasonable car for the money but I will be looking for a better performing and more reliable car next time. It performs adequately and that is about as much as you can say about it .

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 3/5
06-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

Cheap running costs (60+ mpg & £35 road tax) offset by niggling faults such as keyless entry locks failing on 2 doors and the runners having to be replaced on the sunroof - all on a car just 3 years old! Also build quality is poor compared to other cars in this price range/class.

Reliability: 2/5 Build Quality: 2/5

Economical - does what it said on the tin, - nothing fancy, - basic model.Gets me from A to B without looking like a skip.Had higher spec renaults before and were much more sophisticated and luxurious but current basic model unfortunately lower quality overall hence faults.

Parked off street, but in open air. so far has been reliable, I am disabled and rely heavily on it for many short journies (under 5 miles). often don't use it for 1-3 days at a time. So far have only replaced tyres plus the usual items for mot pass requirements.

this was a coupe/cabriolet and it took the franchised dealer over 18 months to make it weatherproof. I also had problems with dealer refusing to do warranty work and on two occassions had to contact manufacturer to resolve the problems

Despite the poor build quality, i love this car (RS225 Cup). It makes me smile every time i drive it. The chassis is something else. It costs a fortune to run, but i dont care. Im seriously considering the RS250 in a couple of years.

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 2/5

Overall a good car and build, the head lights are a pain when coming to change the bulbs. You have to remove a blanking plate under the wing to gain access, strange as it's a French car and you need to carry spare bulbs in France!!

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 4/5
55-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

its very reliable, good on fuel, excellent to park and very nippy, drivers seat is starting to wear but overall cant complain with the mileage it does, never let us down apart from when the turbo blew at 70,000 miles...

Reliability: 5/5 Build Quality: 3/5

Not much to tell as I have only had it three months. no problems so far. This car replaced a mini cooper 1.6 petrol which only gave 33 mpg, so big improvement on fuel used. I have 4 years free servicing on the megane.
