Overall i am extremely pleased with my car. The build quality, for the price, is good. the doors close with an encouraging thud (they are not the least bit tinny, unlike some other cars in the same class).
I have not had a moments bother with the engine, the running gear or the rest of the mecanicals. The dials and swtches are all to hand, the speedo and rev-counter are visable and on the model i have ( which is the 'design') it has, 'rain-detecting wipers' and light-sensitive headlights; which i beleave should be in every car, regardless of spec. Another good safety addition are the controls for the radio that are on the steering wheel, which allows the driver to keep his/her eyes on the road.
the only two things that I had to take the car in for was the horn and the radio controls working only intermittantly (which was sorted out on my second visit) and the off-side, middle vent closing mechanism ( which would not open or close. I personally regard these faults have been minor glitches in what has been a good driving experiance.

Clutch has been a real problem since i purchased the car ten months ago, with persistent judder. Had new clutch fitted within a week of purchasing the car by a vauxhall dealer. Was fine for about a month then problem reoccured. This time returned car to a local vauxhall dealer close to where I live who said nothing wrong with it, even though my local independent garage experienced the problem two days before and advised me to get it looked at by Vauxhall. Havent decided to return it to vauxhall dealer who fitted it first time as 150 miles from where i live close to where car was purchased. Getting to the point now where I need to return it to original vauxhall dealer before 12 month clutch warranty runs out. If nothing sorted this time I will sell the car. Other than clutch problem I would probably sum the car up as reasonable quality, stylish and value for money. However, Vauxhall dealerships leave a lot to be desired. I have experienced no other problems with the car, just think I have been extremely unlucky on this occasion.

I have the Twintop 1.9cdti Design (With all factory Options) - its not listed in your main car listing - however GM have exchanged the car once before due to a range of technical failures - Roof related & Rust.
Current car is with GM at present - Has been since the beginning of the month - Water ingress issues (Care of the folding roof..) / lighting issues / keyless fob ignition issues / seat movement (sidewards!) to name a few this time..
We have had rust in the boot with this car - that was repaired - as it was trim rubbing - None the less not impressed..

The concept of the car is great and when it was the summer - It was fab... - Perhaps I should live in Cyprus instead of Southern England..

GM have agreed that if they cant fix the car this time then it will be replaced for a different GM product. So we wait!!

We have been incredibly fortunate with our car. the problems we have had have been very minor and quickly resolved. this car has never let us down and is incredibly reliable. this is very important for me particularly, because I am disabled, a wheelchair user, and being stranded or unable to get somewhere would be a major problem and concern to me and my husband. Our car has not yet needed any work to go through an mot. her servicing costs are very reasonable. our main cost is petrol, which due to the nature of our driving habits (lots of short journeys, lots of about town and stop/start driving).can be expensive. Absolutely no complaints. our car is very responsive.

I have done 60,000 miles in the past 3 years in this 1.6 ( petrol) Astra Estate (T Reg). I have owned the car for 8 years and I can't remember it ever letting me down. Service is cheaper than many other makes as are parts. I think this car has done very well, it has now got 148,500 miles on the clock and only has some slight rust on each rear wheel arch, the remainder of the bodywork is good. This is the third Astra I have owned; the first was at 132,000 miles when I traded it in (1.3 hatchback), the last Astra was a 1.4 Estate and was still running well at 98,000 miles when I sold it. All in all I think Astras are very reliable cars.

I was originally going to buy VW Golf but the simlar spec Golf would have been 20k, The Vauxhall was 15k. The Vauxhall Astra SRi is a very underrated car in the four and half years i have had it, the only fault i have had was the engine managment system failure in january 2010 which vauxhall admitted was a common fault and fixed over a three day period. The fault did not stop the car from driving just performance was poor, i.e Turbo failing to kick in when excelerating at times. Would i buy another Astra. Yes.

The Atra Estate TD is a good car, a reliable one. The only problem is the engine management light coming on when driving. When this happens I lose all turbo power and there is lots of black smoke (quiote dangerous if you are overtaking or on a fast lane going uphill . I have a feeling it's to do with a building defect or faulty sensor .I have attempted to repair this twice, having various parts changed by my mechanic. But after a year or so the problem reappears.

A great engine that I have always felt a relaible power source, providing regular servicing is maintained, vauxhall have a great following in my family. As I use this vehicle for more local use, occasionally for long runs,I find that its reliabilty for fuel is good as gentle use on gear changes and not heavy footed on throttle maintain good consumption, and spare parts for this vehicle are priced well with main dealers as against copys.

Reliability: 4/5 Build Quality: 4/5
2007-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years

The ignition system is badly designed and will fail, coil pack and crank shaft sensor are the particular weak points. this is compound by the inability of vauxhall dealer's diagnostic rigs to find these faults. the dealers will just replace parts unnecessarily and at the owner's expense till the fault is fixed by blind chance. Never reaches its indicated fuel consumption and weak engine design, needing regular spare parts.

An extremely reliable vehicle and great for both urban areas (due to auto stop/start) and a real smooth drive on the motorway plus great on fuel consumption. A great car if you are looking for low running cost all round, extremely efficient on fuel which has meant fewer tops ups at the petrol stations and for the first 12 months no road tax, and only ł90 for the whole year after that!

Always had one model from that manufacturer as they have always been relable, easy and reasonably cheap to service. However a major problem which may stop me buying from them again would be the silly indicator that returns to centre after operation, I find my self indicating in the opposite direction when having to manually cancel, which gets embarasing when been followed.

Very reliable, good all-rounder. Does what it should, when it is needed. Great car. Love this car to bits. Shame that the running costs are a little higher than I would like. However, has had one major problem - EGR valve - which was sorted out within six months. Definitely have another Astra, but it would have to be the 1.7cdti for lower running costs

It is the best of both worlds as a twin top but, after year one it started to leak but mildly. This year it got so bad it had to go back for a warranty claim. As it was a rubber seal in the folding roof it was excluded as deals are trim and only have 1 yr manufacturing warranty, Vauxhall have acceoted the claim as a good will gesture.
