Air-con failed. LKocal garage couldn't fix and suggested it go to main dealer. Dealer ordered parts and I dropped the car off. They called lkater that day to say the part was wrong and had to order it again. I dropped the car off a week or so later for the second time. They called later that day to say the part had not arrived. (After I had dropped it off and hired a car to do the trip I had to do.
We agreed that the dealer would cover the cost of the hire car due to their incompetence and eventually the problem was fixed. In doing so they were actually quite helpful in that the wiring loom needed replacing but they wired up a new wire to fix it.

handbrake and its operation is horrible. 1.8 litre engine is terrific. Indicator operation is less than satisfactory. Only major problem was the failure of one door lock which was discovered by accident and could have proved expensive. Will perhaps be interested for my next but one car (the new model is due in 2011/2). Why no 5 seat option (like the VW Touran)? The rear seat design, whilst the work of a true genius, unfortunately prevents a 60/40 split.

I have had vauxhall cars for 22 years, it has broken down 15 times (13 in 1st 12 months) The EGR valve and particulate filter are a major problem, symptom engine warning light loss of power as car goes into limp home mode. The dealers are useless and give no customer care.
I was featured in Auto Express issue 697 with an earlier Zafira as used car of the year 2002.... I was an advocate I now am very very disappointed and let down by Vauxhall

Excelent seating system, comfortable and easy to drive, not so good in snow and ice as the slightest incline the wheels spin. Had problem with egr valve when first purchased as it broke down after 4 days and had to be towed to garage and had new egr valve fitted.
Now the rear tailgate struts are not holding up the tailgate so have booked it if for replacement under warranty. Excellent sound system and built in sat nav.

Ok but let down by the EGR valve problem that I now find out is a common problem with the 1.9 TDI diesel engine. Apparently you need to drive the car at high revs to solve the problem. Why do Vauxhall sell the car to people like me who go on longer runs occasionally and do a lot of short journey family taxi runs. Also Ford offer better equipment than Vauxhall - that may offer a clue where I may head next time.

Pretty darned good. The 1.6 litre petrol is slightly lame when fully loaded but the car has done everything I have wanted from carrying 7 on camping holidays with trailer to shifting paving stones to talking the dog for walks. Build quailty is best of all the cars I have owned and being based on the Astra, the handling is very good for an MPV - in fact, it is better than a lot of cars I have driven.

This is my third Zafira and all off them have been reliable and practicle. I would love a S Max or a Touran however my budget does not reach to them. Vauxhall always heavily discount new cars (which does affect the resale). This along with the GM visa card that offers 3% cash back up to £1500, no other manufacturer offers such good value with a decent car at the end.

I like the size of my car up to 7 seats with 2 stored away when not needed and a large boot when there is 5 seats up. I like that it is quiet when running. I don't like the blind spot in the windscreen/side mirror and that there is nowhere to store the boot cover when all 7 seats are up.

It does what I want at a reasonable price. I chose an MPV because it is so convenient on the occasions when I need to move bulky things, even if they are rare and because the view from the driving position is good, better than a typical saloon.

Engine & auto box very good for what they are, but put them together & the low-speed lag is downright dangerous and unsettling.
Expensive EGR failure (all too common), electrics regular faults and ride too hard.

Having paid almost £24k I am disappointed with the the build and reliability of the car. New gearbox after less than 50,000 miles, it eats tyres and for the price, the standard specification is poor.

FANTASTIC CAR, VERY ECONOMICAL,FRIENDLY,GOOD SPACE,
LOW FUEL CONSUMPTION, GOOD RUNNER.
ONLY ONE AND SINGLE PROBLEM THAT I AM FEELING IS IN
FIRST GEAR IT HAS VERY LOW PULLING.
THANKS

Generally the car is robust and strong. Drives well, lacks a sixth gear as engine noise can be loud at times.
Overall the car is nice to drive and reliable.

Great to Drive & it looks great, practicality is good but a few minor problems where made much worse by very poor dealer attitude & service.
53-reg , Owner for 1 to 3 years
Extremely unreliable with several well known and publicised faults like alarm and engine management which Vauxhall say is not a problem.
57-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years
On the whole a good car, but has its little niggles. Build quality not close to that experienced on my other vehicle, a 10 yr old lexus.
08-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year
Overall a very good car let down by poor engine and transmission. 5 months to diagnose an engine loss of power then 4 new flywheels.
54-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years
car is an excellent combination of all I need for all I could afford, If I had more money, I may have chosen a different car

Tardis like. Big inside, small outside. No wider that a normal Astra and just a tiny bit longer. But can fit 7. Amazing.
56-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years
Apart from a shuddering clutch, common with this model, the car was 100% reliable. One headlight bulb in 3 years.
02-reg Petrol, Owner for More than 5 years
has generally been a reliable car but the engine warning light keeps coming on and the fault cannot be found.
09-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

08-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years
Other than a intermittent leak that the dealer can not find the car has been OK.
