Vw reliability is always very good, no issues to date. My local vw dealer offers a service plan for ł19.95 pcm, this provides a major and a minor service, plus two mot's. it provides a good savings discount and the monthly budget is hardly noticeable to ensure it stays franchised dealer maintained to the correct schedules by vw technicians.regularly obtain 500-650 miles per tank, which is very good for a large family car.only needed to buy some anti-freeze top up and my local dealer gave a 10% parts discount card when I bought the car.these costs are hardly noticeable.

Great practical car but there is clearly a common fault with four year old models just out of warranty .The electronic stability programme (ESP ) fails which means that the entire central braking system has to be replaced on a four year old car at £950 with leass than 50,000 miles. This is including the a 40% discount offered by VW as the car was fully VAG serviced .

This is not an acceptable maintenance cost and VW should recall the cars .I have been a loyal VW customer for 25 years mostly owning two VW's during that period but now I will not buy another.

The electrics have caused numerous problems, the engine management system went, costing ł800, the electric windows would open on their own overnight. only last week a stud near the cam belt went recently causing over ł4000 worth of damage. vw looked at the vehicle and decided that although we have it regularly serviced and the cam belt changed at the recommended times, it was not their fault. they did give a contribution of ł1600, but we had to find the rest. It drinks oil and goes through tyres.

Let down by quality of the parts, poor quality assurance at main dealers doing the servicing, dumb office staff who don't even check out the parts warranty properly. Persistent expensive problems with lambda probe and cat converter. Lambda needed replacing twice in 12 months. Head office staff tried to turn down our claim for the second LP replacement under VW parts warranty. Dealer forgot to input service history into VW system. What will go wrong next?

The traction control lamp came on and the only way to cure it was to renew the ABS pump (£1300.00) a common problem on the mk v golf platform share vehicles. thank heavens we purchased a seoerate warranty as VW do not seem to cover it unless the car is still within their warranty period or a full VW service history.

Major component failure of dynamic stability system at 30k miles. (known problem with model) car failure and roadside recovery at 40k miles due to incorrect fuel filter fitment by mail vw dealer. (regular vw problem). At 60k miles only non warranty expenses fuel, tyres and servicing. no additional oil consumption.

Its simple really up to now I have never had a problem. I pull a caravan with this car and needed a car that would do that and at the same time be economical for everyday use and this car balances that out ok although if I didn't pull a caravan I would go for something more economical.

Useless. Fantastic praticality married to embarrassing build quality. For a "premium brand" Volkswagen should be ashamed of themselves for allowing vehicles of this quality out of the factory. Many other owners of this model appear to have suffered with the same problems as I have.

In the time I have had my touran I have not had a single problem with it,. My car is a motorbility lease, so I only have the cost of fuel which I am very happy with, but as I have not had any problems with it even if I owned it the costs would have been great.

The car has had a new turbo, 2 alternetors and a new automatic dsg box. but over the last 3 years have had no problems and no breakdowns, touch wood. Car does a majority of motorway driving and thus is very economical for its engine size and age.

Had it 18 mths now and only minor problem of headlamp washer unit sticking slightly. 40 mpg from a 2.0 litre deisel auto 5-7 seater, extremely nippy motoer, when used 50-50 town/motorway is good in my view.

Without a doubt the Touran is the best car I have ever owned. How sad that a recurring fault with the airbag warning system and two broken suspension springs blot a perfect score.

Love the car - loads of room but not too big. Rust was found but dealer sorted most of it ( we ended up doing the rest ourselves) Ideal family car would recommend it.

Traction control sensor failed resulting in new ABS master pump being replaced. This is a common fault and would have cost about £1300 is not under warranty.
