Which wipes are best for keeping your car’s interior clean on the move? We pick from nine top buys...

Summer is fast approaching, and now is the time when you’ll really start to notice the build-up of dust inside your car. If you snack on the go or frequently transport children, your cabin can soon be covered in grime.

You don’t need to carry a cleaner and cloth in your boot to clear up, though – wipes will do the job in one go. We tested nine of the best to see which put the sparkle back into your interior.

How we tested them
We had dust and dirt on our dash and windscreen, and marked our cloth seats with ballpoint pen and chocolate. Our wipes needed to work across both surfaces and be moist enough to shift tough muck. Once we’d compared their performance, we used a ruler to measure each wipe, plus we noted how many you get in a pack.

We also wanted resealable packs – these keep the moisture locked in and help the wipes last longer, while the size of the pack will affect where you can store it in the car. Finally, we rated value for money by working out the cost-per-wipe figure.

Verdict

Our top three all come in easy-to-store, easy-to-seal packs, but only one product stood out. While the Simoniz Upholstery wipes aren’t the cheapest, they’re massive, moist and moved the most muck. If you don’t want to spend that much, Tesco’s £1 General Car Wipes are a great investment; they just require a bit of effort to use. Big Wipes Industrial aren’t such good value, but they did a great job on our dash and had most success shifting the pen marks.

1. Simoniz Jumbo Upholstery Wipes
2. Tesco General Car Wipes
3. Big Wipes Industrial
