Overall Average Rating: 85.63%
Position in the Top 100 cars: 44th

The car that created the premium hatch sector has had a tough year, slipping 21 places in 12 months.

Although pre-facelift models are now getting on for six years old, these results suggest the Audi isn’t quite hitting the mark.

Comfort, reliability and practicality all came in for criticism, while you also told us the ride quality on British roads could be better.

Manufacturer Verdict (Position: 11th)

A solid showing sees Audi hold on to its 11th position. Drivers said their cars were the third best built in the country, while the maker was also in the top 10 in the braking and performance charts.

I've privately owned Audi's previously but this is the worst new car I've ever owned. Everything, from the materials used producing distracting reflections in mirrors and glass to the access and seat positioning and construction making it difficult to change gear (the gearbox is already trashed), is extremely poorly done. And only Audi would think it a good idea to turn off your sidelights when turning on your daylight running lights (so no rear lights???) The level of equipment is extremely disappointing - I presumed the best and got the worst in it's class. PS: To prove I'm not comparing with higher specified marcs, my last car was a Skoda Superb - same company - but a brilliant product for less money.

Do not like being ripped off for 'extra's' that should be standard on a qualilty car.Bluetooth should be on every car not an extra and SATNAV at £1900 but is dated and complicated when compared to other manufacturers. Will be looking at Jaguar XF - its made in this country ( more environmentally responsible to drive a car made in country of use) and even the 'base' model has all the gadgets I require without huge lists of options.

Was a bit wary going from a 3 Series BMW to a smaller A3 but as most of my running is in town, this car ia a good all rounder and is a lot comfier suspension wise, also so far only visit to main dealer was for first service at 16,000 miles Only gripe is that a this is a 3 door hatch, it isn't very easy getting in and out of the back, compared to a Golf for example.

The A3 Sportback I have is comfortable, roomy and economical, it is solidly built and reliable. It has confidence inspiring handling and brakes

The steering is a bit numb and the standard equipment is miserly (no air con or even cd player!) - the engine is clattery at low speeds.

Overall it has been a good family car.

I have returned to Audi and chosen a petrol engine (1.4tfsi petrol turbo supercharged) and delighted with my choice. Nearly 50mpg, low tax band and great performance. Bearing in mind this is from a 7speed paddle shift, impressive.
Audi delivers; understated style, practicality, performance and great customer service.

I have been very pleased with the A3. It is practical, enjoyable to drive, and economical, I have only had to change the two front tyres and a rear light bulb in 41000 miles. The 2.0TDI pulls very well. The ride/road noise could perhaps be better but would definately buy another.
