57-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

One of the best cars I have ever owned, very comfortable and feels safe. Option features all work well although the HVAC is noisy through the face level vents (A known issue with this model) Great seats with full range of adjustability. Good fuel economy considering the engine tune and 4WD. Gear selection into first can at time bulk but overall the transmission including the 4WD is fine. The 4WD does give extra confidence particularly in bad weather conditions however if the car does get away from you in the dry it is not always easy to control particularly if it is at high speed. Interior and exterior has worn well although there is signs that in places on the front valance where the ‘clear coat’ has been punctured by sharp objects the coating has lifted. Great car and I will replace it with the newer model but with just a few more bhp than its current 260bhp.

I have owned 5 Audi's and 2 VW's over the years. This Audi in 2.5 years has cost more in maintainence than the other 6 put together. Unfortunately it is no longer economical to own one. Previous repairs were done locally by a trusted mechanic. this car 2002 things like serpentine belt replacement needed a 200Km tow in. Timing belt costs have gone from around $500.00 to over $2000.00. The sun roof sticks, the entire brake master cylinder had to be replaced as it filled with water and froze. The list is endless.

Cost: 2/5
2004-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Used to be brilliant, sadly deteriorating, but understandable with age and mileage. replacement parts expensive. see comment below, on running costs. They hurt. problem with heating/ac cost about ł470 to deal with, defective switch burned out a control unit for electric roof. repair cost exactly ł500. that plus more routine matters like new brake discs, and impending timing belt replacement (with a crowded v6 engine compartment) are somehwere between painful and frightening.

Cost: 2/5
57-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Very over rated car. Prices for buying new and servicing too high considering the mediocre build quality and performance. Can't afford to buy the same model again due to price increases. Dealers ok but prices rip off and approach very arrogant. Real life MPG no where near the published figures. Can buy Chevrolet 300C for less money. Will consider VW Passat CC as its better value for money and has more kit for less money.

Cost: 3/5
59-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year

Excellent so far, ride is not as hard than my B7 estate (Now B8 Saloon) and the build quality is excellent. Looks superb as an S Line black saloon. Added quite a lot of options and can see the car being a let down without them.
Just disappointing it will have spent 2 days in the dealers to replace a £25 part under warranty and the economy isn't that great even with the 2.0Tdi 143 and stop/start

Cost: 4/5
Y-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Fantastic combination of solid, dependable torque and fuel economy. A understated, but stylish and well-engineered: all-round supremely capable... all it needs is through-loading back seats and it would be perfect.... next car will be another TDI Audi Quattro, either an A4 Saloon (with the through loading seats), the A4 Avant.... or most likely, the A5 Sportback (Hatchback)....

Cost: 4/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Very reliable now; audi changed all 4 injectors foc. I had the dpf taken out in january this year and have since driven almost 10,000 miles absolutely trouble free. I average over 30 miles to the gallon and that's mostly city/rush hour driving - not bad as far as I'm concerned. audi main dealer service the car - and pricing is medium. expensive parts - even the oil type!

Cost: 3/5
07-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

What a car!! Mine is the Audi RS4 and it is the easiest cat that I have ever driven, flexible 6th gear 30mph whithout a judder and 0 to 60 in under 5 Seconds when required with bags of toque! What more coudl I want a luxury crusier with room! Not only that but a sound system that puts many a home system in the shade. Thank you Audi!

Cost: 5/5
2003-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

For a car of this age it has performed really well, been to france and have had no major problems, just the normal wear and tear replacements. No as good as a diesel but taking into consideration the annual mileage I do it is great. parts are not cheap from the main dealer but alternative parts are just as good at half the price.

Cost: 3/5
2006-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

So far, so good. there are a few niggles with bulbs shorting out but so far nothing major. I previously has a 2002 a4 tdi avant se which regularly returned 50mpg so the s-line is a bit more thirsty which is a shame. parts tend to be quite pricey and audi labour charges are ridiculous so I've switched to a independent specialist.

Cost: 3/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Generally good but with a couple of failures of a minor nature, ie fuel flap locking, squeaks fropm shock suspension, cracked plastic moulding in seat. For type of car generally good with servicing only every 18000 miles but spares and servicing at main dealer quite expensive when needed. fuel costs acceptable, vel fair etc.

Cost: 3/5
06-reg , Owner for 1 to 3 years

S4 model with Tiptronic, Quattro, Avant 4.2 V8 etc is just perfect.
Audi dealers / service less so unfortunately but not too bad on this car.
I might well replace with a newer model but used.
A bit expensive but worth it. A car for the enthusiastic if not expert driver - and it runs in ice & snow, not like a BMW.

Cost: 3/5
06-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Cars are great
performance and reliability was excellent
mpg is good for high performance v8
06 onwards handling was much improves over previous version

- customer service is appauling
will never buy an audi again because of the bad customer service no matter if you have a 5k car or a 50k car like I have had.

Cost: 2/5
2002-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

Generall good. problems with air con within first 3 years. recently had replacement brake servo unit and engine turbo. Mpg very good. like the long life servicing schedule but servicing at main dealer very very expensive.generally good on tyres approx 25000 miles from the front.

Cost: 2/5
2007-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Generally very good, though it did develop a water leak into the cabin which was expensive to trace. Expensive on fuel, brakes and tyres - but not unexpected given its performance and original price. routine servicing quite reasonable if you source your own oil.

Cost: 2/5
02-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Overall, a very reliable car, but not a practical estate (big hatchback!!) V6 diesel and Quattro drive don't help economy although its a pleasure to drive. Some corrossion issues which surprised me, and still to be dealt with. Looks good, and would buy another.

Cost: 3/5
2012-reg Petrol, Owner for less than a year

Car has been re-called twice to correct problems. I had an audi a4 s line previously on runs from corby to leeds I got usually between 40-45mpg this was 2-litre car, the 1.8l I only get 30 to 38-mpg for the same run and about 30mpg on country roads.

Cost: 2/5
2007-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I have had to spend a lot on parts including injectors ( all four went) oil cooler, diesel fuel particulate filter. however when its fixed it runs well and starts well. Tyres expensive, servicing expensive, parts expensive.fuel economy seems fair.

Cost: 2/5
57-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Fantastic, it's a 2.0 turbo Special Edition - 220PS with Quattro - holds the road like glue, great in the snow, doesn't get rocked by puddles etc. does 32 mpg average and 38 on a "run" - frankly this car is hard to beat at the price (£21K)

Cost: 4/5
2006-reg Petrol, Owner for more than 5 years

Although I have had problems, audi have been quick to repair them even after the warranty finished. Audi main dealers are expensive and allways seem to find other faults. on a long motorway journey the car returns 32 mpg still thirsty.

Cost: 3/5
2007-reg Petrol, Owner for more than 5 years

Excellent, no issues other than ware and tear items. Main dealer services are expensive, no older car discounts on servicing as with bmw. car is driven quite hard so mileage not great and the harder it's driven he more oil it burns.

Cost: 3/5
2006-reg Petrol, Owner for more than 5 years

Only problem is with the pencil ignition coils, I have gone through 6 of them in ł108k miles. It is typically about 4 mpg worse than I had hoped for from the consumption figures, despite being serviced to manufacturer's standards.

Cost: 2/5
56-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Nice car that is stylish, comfortable and economical. Economical that is other than the Continental tyres fitted as standard. 12000 miles max from fronts even with very careful driving. Dunlops give me 20,000. Dealer is excellent.

Cost: 4/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

Couple of small electrical problems since purchase, but nothing major. Service and maintenance costs are average for the class (although replacement parts are very expensive). mpg is reasonable given 4 wheel drive and size of car.

Cost: 3/5
2010-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Owned for 28 months. had one service at 18,000 miles and one non-scheduled return to dealer to fix small leak from headlamp washer. Does 45 mpg average overrall but can easily get 55 mpg on a holiday run, and that's fully laden.

Cost: 5/5
2002-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Wear and tear only expense plus couple of warning lights which baffled dealer, were resolved but no explanation. 2.5 v6 with 4 whhel drive...not great for running costs less you compare to similar age freelander or similar.

Cost: 3/5
V-reg Petrol, Owner for More than 5 years

love it to bits ,great turn of speed when needed, but getting old but ill hold on to her as long as possible. pity mechanics i use always have a good moan about how tough getting new bits on are , or id do it myself.

Cost: 3/5
2005-reg Diesel, Owner for more than 5 years

Now covered 84000 miles and first major problem encountered with fuel delivery. cost to repair cica ł1000. Fairly economical for a 3l v6, always maintained by audi main dealer and parts and labour seem expensive.

Cost: 3/5
58-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

THE LATEST MODEL OF A4 AVANT IS THE BEST YET (I'VE HAD THREE OF THEM OVER THE LAST 6 YEARS) - WAITING FOR THE NEXT UPDATE TO EXCEED IT - ALWAYS ASSUMING THAT THE AUDI ENGINEERS AND DESIGNERS CAN DO IT, OF COURSE!

Cost: 5/5
V-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Other than consumable items its hardly cost me anything, mileage with the correct driving techniques is unbelievable for such a well built quality car. For me the Germans always produce the best all round cars.

Cost: 5/5
2012-reg Petrol, Owner for less than a year

Have owned new audis for 4 years and never had any reliability issues. I previously owned an a3 1.9tdie which was amazing for economy. by comparison the 1.8tfsi 120ps is distinctly average.

Cost: 3/5
W-reg Diesel, Owner for More than 5 years

Superlative value for money over the long term - still looks as new inside and out and has the original exhaust, clutch and still going as new despite having 160,000 miles on the clock.

Cost: 5/5
2006-reg Petrol, Owner for less than a year

Hasn't let me down as yuet although some attention to the softtop was requiredf. Typically 24 mpg about town and 35+ on a decent jaunt. other than service costs and tyres no other costs.

Cost: 4/5

As I previously owned a Subaru Impreza I wondered if anything could replace it but the Audi has done a fantastic job and I really feel it is an excellent car

Cost: 5/5
2010-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

I've had the car for almost three years and had no defects to speak of. Fuel economy is fairly good; parts & servicing at a main dealer are not cheap.

Cost: 4/5
58-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

probably a bit expensive, especially the options, but it's a great car. Audi's service is generally very good, and servicing costs are not too bad.

Cost: 3/5
07-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

A very good car but after sales service was not up to my expectations and in fact fell far short of what I would deem to be satisfactory.

Cost: 5/5

Has not missed a bet - not even a recall. Fixed service plan is excelent value, as was the mot with free pass warranty for next year.

Cost: 5/5
2012-reg Diesel, Owner for less than a year

Only an audi recall to change clutch master cylinder. no other issues. Fuel consumption nowhere near that expressed by audi figures.

Cost: 3/5
2009-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years

No issues in 61k miles. Fuel use is acceptable, servicing is rather expensive (though as this is a co car I have not had to pay!).

Cost: 4/5
W-reg Petrol, Owner for More than 5 years

Excellent, love it, but fuel economy could be better. I guess that a 2.4 V6 isn't always going to be the most iexpensive to run.

Cost: 3/5
06-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years

a brilliant all round car. its got power yet at the same economical. its got plenty of space in the boot. perfect family car

Cost: 4/5
2003-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years

Never had to fix any major parts. Running any car is expensive due to the rip-off governmant and the rip-off price of fuel.

Cost: 1/5

Always starts 1st time every morning like clockwork. Little more expensive for genuine audi parts but seems worth it.

Cost: 4/5

Not a single problem. Servicing, parts, tyres etc all very expensive but that what you expect from a quality car.

Cost: 3/5
