The Beijing Motor Show, also known as Auto China, is the country’s premier international car show. As China’s car industry rapidly expands, so too does the show, and since 1990 it’s grown in prominence become a key event in the calendar of major car brands. It’s held every two years in Beijing.
The world’s motoring manufacturers will all be present, competing for a slice of the lucrative Chinese car maket – expect to see the likes of BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Bentley and Jaguar bringing their best cars and concepts to appeal to the growing middle classes. These companies often display some cars specifically made for the Chinese market, too.
As well as European manufacturers displaying to the Chinese market, the Beijing Motor Show is an opportunity for Chinese manufacturers to show off their wares to the rest of the world. Companies such as Geely, BAIC, Dongfeng and BYD will be out in force at the show, bringing along their best creations in the hope of securing sales at home as well as possibly making a breakthrough into the European market.
The Beijing Auto Show takes place every two years, and for 2016 the dates to remember are April 29 to May 4 – when the exhibition is open to the public. Tickets aren’t on sale yet, but you’ll be able to get them here.
