But he eventually succumbed to pressure from newly crowned champion, France’s Sebastien Bourdais, who went on to claim his seventh triumph of the year. Despite the pair banging wheels, Wilson managed to finish in the runner-up slot and secure second place in the championship – his highest ever finish in the series. Wilson said: “My wrist wasn’t too bad until about halfway through the race, and then the shock from every downshift reminded me that I’d damaged my hand!”
