Hennessey is building a special ‘World’s Fastest Edition’ Venom GT to celebrate its recent world record-breaking run at the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.
Last February, the 1244bhp lightweight supercar recently set a new Guinness World Record for standing-start acceleration, launching itself from rest to 186mph (300km/h) in only 13.63 seconds.
The quickest road-legal car in the world also hit a top speed of 270.4mph during the session on NASA’s 2.8 mile runway, although it didn’t fulfil the criteria necessary to officially displace the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport as the world’s fastest production car.
“We’re thrilled about what we achieved at Cape Canaveral with the Venom GT,” said Hennessey CEO Don Goldman.
“And now the World’s Fastest Edition is a living, breathing celebration of that record achievement.”
Unfortunately for well-off Hennessey fans, only three World’s Fastest Edition Venom GTs will be made, and they have all already been sold for £757,300. The cars will feature a special livery package designed to incorporate the colours of the American flag, with the white body overlaid by red and blue stripes.
