The biggest claim under the category of parking came from Frank Doran, MP for Aberdeen North, who charged taxpayers £5,162.50 over the course of 2011/12.
Much of that was for airport parking at Aberdeen airport for his commute to Westminster. But there were also two £800 claims attributed to “MP staff” for “within constituency travel”.
There were also plenty of other MPs who made £2,000-plus claims for parking charges. This came during a year when local authorities made £411m from parking profits – with the borough of Westminster taking the most with a whopping £38m profit.
