Finishing ahead of the Vauxhall Vectra and VWÂ’'s old-shape Passat is a good result for FordÂ’'s soon-to-be-axed family favourite. Yet while the Mondeo had some strong results in categories such as practicality and handling, there are one or two areas of concern. The big Ford could manage only 81st in the ease of driving ranks, while 91st for braking is a poor result for what many will regard as safe family transport. Still, 92 per cent of owners said the Mondeo had lived up to their expectations.
