Mazda MX-5 (old)

The world’s best-selling convertible has a loyal following. And there’s one big reason – its handling. Only the firm’s RX-8 and Subaru’s old-shape Impreza were placed higher. You also rate the MX-5’s reliability, but given its tiny cabin, it’s no surprise the Mazda is last for practicality. That doesn’t seem to matter, though – 76 per cent of owners said they’d buy another.

MANUFACTURER VERDICT

A fall of four, but Mazda is still in the top 10 and 11 places ahead of parent firm, Ford. The arrival of the new 6 this year and the 2’s popularity should see a rise again next year.
