Toyota yaris (old)

For a car that was replaced three years ago, this is a strong showing. You reckon performance and handling could be better, but fifth place in the reliability category is a remarkable achievement for Toyota’s well built
supermini, while fourth for running costs shows that the first-generation Yaris still makes an excellent used buy.

MANUFACTURER VERDICT

They never go wrong, cost pennies to run and last decades. But please, you say, can Toyota put some more fun into the driving experience of its cars? Punchier engines would help, as well.
