The understated Legacy impresses with a scorecard that’s just what you’d expect from a Subaru. You loved its build quality, reliability, all-wheel-drive dynamism and relaxed ride.

It’s comfortable, easy to drive and practical, too – but what a pity the boxer engines’ wallet-wilting running costs let the side down.
