Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner! You voted the new Skoda Superb as your favourite car of 2011.
Skoda’s Superb is part executive saloon, part full-sized family car and part all-round superstar. Pioneering an innovative twin saloon/hatchback bodystyle, the Superb also impresses as a classy estate.
Take a look at the Superb’s Driver Power ranking compared to rivals and you will see that it is certainly living up to its name.
And while it doesn’t grab the top-spot in any of our category awards, its all-round brilliance achieves and almost unrivalled top 10 finishes in seven categories. Only lukewarm reviews for its road handling stops its victory being absolute.
If you’re buying an executive saloon, a family car or even an MPV and the Superb isn’t on your shortlist – it should be!
What you said:"The steering, brakes and handling are brilliant... plus there's so much rear legroom, it feels like being in a limousine" - David Tanner, of Fareham, Hants.
"Brilliant in every respect. Great value for money and incredibly well equipped when compared with the competition." - Skoda Yeti Driver.

How are our results calculated?
Our survey asks drivers to rate
their car out of five in 10 key categories. An independent data
processing company then crunches the numbers to provide the overall
average scores.
Why doesn’t my car feature?
Not all
models can be included, due to the sheer number of cars on UK roads.
Plus, to ensure our results are reliable, we need a robust sample size
of drivers of each vehicle.

I could agree that the Yeti is an average goodlooking car semi suv and semi station wagon that fits the bill.
Sorry about the double post.
All I wanted to say is that no matter the legroom/vag technology etc, it still is so ugly and so far away from what we could call a modernized design that it should have never been voted 1st.
Design plays a major role into our choice of a car that should have never been ignored.
On the other hand I also see another Skoda (Fabia) that is also ugly but still stands high in the ratings. So strange, it feels that either the choice is biased by other elements or people just don't care about design anymore, which is hard to believe judging by the introduction of the new Giulietta.
The only acceptable design by Skoda is the Yeti which I think it deserves to be on the higher positions, but still 2nd overall? Octavia 4th?
In short, 1st/2nd/4rth places by Skoda?? Why not any of their siblings VW/Audi?
Not even Skoda themselves would have voted them that high!!
The survey says that no all cars are included but mysteriously ALL Skodas are included and highly ranked.
There must be a flood of them around U.K . that I probably did not notice.
We sold our Land Rover and bought a Yeti before it won all the awards, as it was more practical. I was so surprised by what a great car it is that when we needed a second vehicle I looked no further than my local dealer. The dealer is great, the service is great, the cars are great and the prices like for like make buying anything else a bit daft. Unless you are a badge snob or need massaging seats why spend more for the same product.
And they are not ugly. They are sensible rather than flamboyant. Skoda really seem to have shown what they can deliver for a sensible price without paying for all the frilly bits you don't actually need or play with after having the car for a day. Well done Skoda! The votes by the public say it all.
The Rover 75 that hasn't been made for 5+ years and has come 13th. Come on AutoExpress this survey is utterly pointless. I expect the performance expectations of a Scirocco driver are rather different to a Superb's driver so why compare them. Overall this survey is useless and is just about flogging a few more magazines.
maybe Skoda drivers have lower expectations, i took out a Skoda Yeti for a test drive and was left a little disappointed, the outside looked a little to much like a van and the quality was a bit rough in places, the interior was better but not class leading .
The biggest disappointment was on the road, average at best with a unsettled ride at low speeds with a gruff diesel, how this car finished second i dont know, maybe Skoda drivers feel the need to justify their purchases?
Take the Skodas apart and you'll find that they are redesigned VAG products. So how come they do so much better than VW, Seat and Audi? Doesn't seem to make a bit of sense to me.
Before all the hype surrounding the Skoda Yeti, my wife and I had to think log and hard about our next car (lease) as we were pouring endless money into our Mazda which was on it's last legs. We chose the Yeti CR TDi as it had the space to accomadate 2 adults, 3 kids and 2 large dogs, plus gives you a better view of the road, and the essential ground clearence. Never owning a VAG car before I was, and still am suprised by how well it handles, how well it's built, and that I am acheiving over 50mpg ( and I drive it pretty hard). 10k miles later and zero problems. No dissappoinments here, just glad I had the foresight to choose an all round fantastic car, over many others.
Ok so we can't really compare all cars; a potential Porsche buyer is unlikely to think 'OK I'll get a Skoda instead' based on the survey results. However, it's still a valid survey; Skodas a keenly priced and their dealers seem to actually care about their customers - the result is customer satisfaction and loyalty. It's not rocket science, but some other manufacturers still struggle to grasp the importance of excellent dealerships. And no, I don't own one......
I have heard it said that only beeeema drivers like beeemas, well it would seem even they don't like them. There you go.

Looks like someone at AE is embarrassed, as the survey has disappeared from the news listing (the preview article, bizarrely, is still there).
Come on folks, we can put prejudice behind us. The 'once a Skoda, always a Skoda' brigade have no evidence to support their views. Most haven't driven or ridden in one (would be seen dead, etc.)!
This is brand blindness - please look beyond the brand to the facts and ask if Skoda makes quality products.
"Ah, beware of snobbery; it is the unwelcome recognition of one's own past failings." So said Cary Grant. Honest.
Or in this case, it's the unwelcome recognition that other cars aren't as good as Skodas.
Isn't it amazing that the first thing folk do, when presented with the result of a comprehensive survey covering a large sample size, is to put forward various reasons as to why it is wrong.
Oh blinkered ones, I wouldn't have you any other way, for the world would be a duller place without your inane opinions.
