Defender Double Cab

Land Rover's Defender is a bit like a Meccano set - take it apart and you can pretty much make up any combination you want. The latest sees a six-seat double cab front teamed with a pick-up rear on the long-wheelbase chassis. Does it make any sense? Although huge, it has one of the smallest load bays of any double cab, but there's more rear seat room than in most.

Although huge, it has one of the smallest load bays of any double cab, but there's more rear seat room than in most.

Having such a restricted loadspace - it also houses the full-size spare - limits the Defender Double Cab's practical value, although with its high-rise canvas cover it is handy for keeping muddy dogs and straw bales separate from passengers on board. And there's nothing else on the market to touch the Defender for off-road ability.
