It's about time Aston Martin started to develop a new low powered engine instead of using a 6.0 v12 engine all the time. Mercedes used a V8 as do Audi and BMW. The newer smaller engines produce more power then what Aston are producing at the moment.
.... to a point. This car uses a V8. But I do take the point and would argue that it's time all manufacturers got awaiy from using anything more than a six-pot. It's uneccesarry, wasteful and stupid. If these people really want to impress us then why put their effort into developing a wide range of engines that are powerful and econcomical. At least the german brands do this to a degree. This car is a dinosaur. I would be ashamed to drive a car like this nowadays. (even if I could afford one). Aston and others had better wake up to their image issues if they are to survive the next decade
if I could afford one of these I'd jump at the chance and I wouldn't give a moments thought about what others might think. Cars like this are glorious and should be celebrated, to hell with thoughts of emissions, there will never be enough cars like this to make one iotta of difference....
Six years on from its launch, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage continues to evolve. The S is not revolutionary, but the exterior revisions strike a fine balance between aggression and style, while the tuneful engine and upmarket cabin are pure traditional sports car. More importantly, the chassis tweaks have sharpened the responses and improved driver involvement. The seven-speed gearbox is a first for Aston Martin as well. Brutish, classy, fast and involving, the Vantage S oozes the kind of character fans of the marque love.
