Americans traditionally love cars to be the size of Texas and have V8 engines that can be heard across state lines. And that's why this slice of orange is one of the most fascinating models in years.

Called the Razor, it may only be the size of a Citroen Saxo, but with Audi TT looks and a 250bhp turbocharged 2.4- litre engine mated to a six-speed box, it's no lemon! Built by Dodge, part of DaimlerChrysler, the firm's bosses have realised young hell 'razors' don't want to drive something the size of their parents' house. They want European style, Japanese reliability

FIRST OPINION

    The Razor's designers said they were inspired by classic Euro-pean sports cars of the Sixties. They've raided the corporate parts bin to keep costs down, and the blend of old and new works well. The Razor is certainly an amazing concept car, but sadly may re- main just that. Only time will tell.
