If the 807 is a little too common for you, there's always Mazda's MPV. The unimaginatively badged model is one of the slowest-selling cars in the UK, with only 72 finding homes in this country last year, compared to 12,177 Ford Galaxys.

If the 807 is a little too common for you, there's always Mazda's MPV. The unimaginatively badged model is one of the slowest-selling cars in the UK, with only 72 finding homes in this country last year, compared to 12,177 Ford Galaxys.

Will the Japanese people carrier's facelift improve on this dismal effort? The new 'arrowhead' grille and interior trim tweaks are unlikely to have a drastic effect, but under the bonnet things gets more interesting, as the car boasts the engines which will also go into the Mondeo-rivalling Mazda 6. A new 2.3-litre, 134bhp petrol unit replaces the 2.0-litre, while a 134bhp common-rail 2.0-litre diesel is now on offer, too.

FIRST OPINION

    Mazda MPVs are a rare sight on UK roads, and the revised model will do little to attract more fans to this most faceless of people carriers. It's spacious and the new engine range adds some appeal, but it still lacks the innovation and driving dynamics of its main rivals.
