The Shogun is more reliable then any Land/Range Rover. It might not have the Prestige as the Landy/Range but I know which one one I would have if stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Mitsubishi have managed to update this so it's only now 10 years behind the times in both looks and technical ability. We won't be seeing many of these on the road, luckily.
The words" you could buy an entry-level Land Rover Discovery 4 for similar money" says it all. I have the model before this one which, likewise, is fully loaded. The equivalent Disintegrator costs £10,000 more and is utterly unreliable. I have owned 4 Shoguns from new over the past 20 years, have done hundreds of thousands of miles and have experienced nothing but first class reliability. Can Land Rover claim the same? I think not.
The changes to the Shogun are subtle, but Mitsubishi’s bulletproof off-roader has always had a loyal following and these updates will keep sales going strong. But while many of its SUV rivals are becoming less and less compromised on the road, the Shogun still feels cumbersome and in need of more extensive changes. Thankfully, the car’s excellent go-anywhere ability remains, and buyers will be happy to know that you won’t find this level of equipment anywhere else in this price bracket. For that reason, you can forgive the revised Shogun a few of its shortcomings.
