FIRST OPINION

Saab's latest 9-3 is a huge improvement over its stodgy predecessor. It's more fun to drive than an A4, as interactive as a 3-Series, and cheaper than both. It contains state-of-the-art safety systems and electronics, the rigid bodyshell feels tough and solid like the firm's products of old, and it has the quality to compete with German rivals. The Swedish manufacturer has wanted to build a car this good for years, but has only recently had the resources to do so. The new 9-3 was worth the wait.
