You are looking at Hollywood's latest must-have accessory. It might not wear an Italian designer label, but where cars are concerned, green is the new black.

It seems that being seen to be environmentally responsible is now seriously cool - the list of celebrity owners of Toyota's previous-generation Prius petrol-electric hybrid includes Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jim Carrey and Arnold Schwarzenegger. And the new car is set to be even more popular. Will Britain's glitterati be rushing to their local Toyota dealer for this model, too?

After trying the first Prius to arrive in the UK, we reckon so. It's not only that the whole package has been improved, but for the first time the car looks interesting as well. Unlike the last model, a four-door with a rather dull design, the newcomer is a cross between a hatchback and a coup

FIRST OPINION

    The Prius isn't exciting to drive or look at, but it's interesting, technologically brilliant and really well made. It's also kind to the environment and very refined in traffic. This newcomer proves you can be planet-friendly and still own a car that's not a compromise. The future looks good for Toyota hybrids.
