FIRST OPINION
The concept of a luxury people carrier is a new one, and Mercedes has ticked all the right boxes. There's plenty of space, ample seating for six and lots of luxurious touches. However, the R-Class is heavy, so it's ponderous in corners and thirsty. Still, for those buyers who need to carry lots of passengers and want a prestige badge, there are few better choices.
AT A GLANCE
Make no mistake, the R-Class is a huge car. At 5.16m long, it's bigger than an S-Class, and has ample room for six passengers. Mercedes will also offer UK customers a short-wheelbase version.
