Model tested:
MINI One 1.4-litre
WHY? In terms of style and image, this is the 500’s main target. The entry-level model is costly, though.
AT A GLANCE: Opting for the base MINI doesn’t mean losing out. Its small wheels help to give an excellent blend of ride and handling, and the 1.4-litre engine is a belter. It’s very sparsely equipped, though.
