Best tax-busting choices
ANY MINI is a strong buy
residually, but the arrival of the 1.6-litre turbodiesel model two
years ago is great news for tax costs. Not only is it torquey, it
returns 72mpg combined. Plus, BMW tweaked the unit in 2007 to cut
emissions from 118g/km to only 104g/km. So while Cooper D owners
currently pay a bargain £35 a year in tax, this will drop to £20 (for
post-August 2007 cars) and £30 (for
models made from April-August 2007).
Used price range: £11,500-£14,500
CO2 emissions: 104-118g/km
2008 tax band/cost: B/£35
2009 tax band/cost: B or C*/£20-£30
