The Fiat 500 has it all – loveable looks, retro roots and an affordable price tag… And now there’s an open-top variant to broaden its appeal further. In a homage to the 1957 original the 500C features an innovative electric soft-top that peels back rather than stowing away completely.
Closer to a full-width sunroof than a folding canvas hood, the clever design means that the car’s structural stiffness isn’t compromised, providing the same go-kart hadling, safety levels and interior space as the hatch.
Customers can choose between three colours for the hood – ivory, red and black – which have been carefully selected to match the paint colours on offer. Engine choices include the 1.3 Multijet diesel, and a 1.2 or 1.4-litre petrol unit with 68bhp and 99bhp respectively. Â
The first examples go on sale in the Spring, at a small premium over the hatch.
