Take a look at the ultimate drop-top pocket rocket! This is the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible – a storming city car that features the same chassis and powertrain tweaks as the JCW hard-top.

Priced at a rather expensive £23,470, it gets a 208bhp 1.6-litre turbo that punches the car from 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds and onto a top speed of 146mph. But it's green too – returning 39.5mpg and emits just 169g/km of CO2.

Standard transmission is a beefed-up six-speed manual, while traction is taken care of by a host of electronic systems including CBC Cornering Brake Control, EDLC Electronic Differential Lock Control, DSC Dynamic Stability Control (with Hill Assist) and DTC Dynamic Traction Control.

Just like the hard-top JCW the cabrio gets a Sport button that sharpens steering and throttle response. It also gets a muscular body kit and 17-inch alloys…
