We're more accustomed to seeing Subaru Imprezas sliiping and sliding around a rally stage than going wheel-to-wheel on the track, but it appears this performance icon can do both! Developed by the firm's performance division Subaru Tecnica International (STI), this track-focused racer will make it competitive debut at the Nurburgring 24-hr race on May 23.
Competing in the SP3T class, for turbocharged cars with 2.0-litre engines, modifications include a bare-bones interior to save weight, stiffened suspension and a stregthened chassis, as well as the compulsory safety equipment.
Unfortunately Subaru isn't offering its tuned Impreza as a customer car, instead the race is research exercise to help improve future road cars.
