Maserati GranTurismo MC4

Ultimate gentleman racer goes as well as it looks

Maserati GranTurismo GT4

April 2009

Based on Maserati's MC Corse concept, the MC GT4 brings the glamour of the company's road car's to the race track. And Maserati hasn't held back in trying to make the car as competitive as possible in the European FIA GT4 class. Carbon-fibre body panels, plastic windows and lightweight alloys help to boost the power-to-weight ratio, while uprated brakes, stiffened suspension and slick racing tyres keep the car glued to the track.

Under the bonnet, expect the the 4.7-litre V8 to recieve a minor boost to around 450bhp, while a full roll-cage is designed to protect the driver should he venture beyond the car's limits. The only bad bit is the price, a cool £130,000, putting it firmly out of the average customer's reach. However, Maserati has said that the MC GT4 could well spawn a stripped-out road-going variant, which would command a more manageable price tag.
