Ferrari F40

The Enzo might have the F40 licked on paper, but it’s the car built between 1987 and 1992 that paved the way for every hypercar since. For two years after it went on sale it held the title of the world’s fastest street-legal car, and was the first production model ever to crack the magical 200mph barrier.

A total of only 1,315 examples were produced making this a rare sight on the roads. And it became even rarer when owners learned the hard way that the savage power delivery from its 478bhp 2.9-litre twin-turbo V8 made it more than a little tricky to handle for the inexperienced driver!
