Jaguar XFR

A bigger supercharger, some aero tweaks and the executive saloon hits 225mph

Jaguar XFR

May 2009

While the standard XFR is certainly no slouch – 503bhp and 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds speaks for itself – it doesn’t quite have what it takes to make it into our fast car special. However, remove the speed limiter, add some choice modifications and the big cat becomes an altogether different creature!

Back in January Jaguar took a factory-fresh XFR, added a huge rear wing and a crude front spoiler, beefed up the supercharger to extract 600bhp from the 5.0-litre V8 and packed a parachute into the back of the car to give the brakes a helping hand. The Frankenstein XF was then let looses on the Bonneville salt flats in Utah where it clocked up an incredible 225mph top speed – securing the XFR’s reputation as a seriously high-performance machine.
