Corvette ZR1

The Corvette might be a symbol of old-school low-tech engineering, but there’s nothing old-fashioned about the way the ZR1 performs. The new flagship straps a supercharger to the 6.2-litre V8 and the results are explosive. Peak power of 647bhp, a 0-60mph dash in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 205mph are impressive figures. And if you’re still not convinced how does 0-100mph in seven seconds flat sound?

But the truly amazing achievement is not that the ZR1 goes, stops and negotiates corners with all the poise and verve of top-end European supercars, but that with a price tag of ‘only’ £100,000 it undercuts all of them by quite some margin.
