Bosses at Renault also announced the new Renaultsport Mégane 250 this week.
Priced at £23,000 and due in dealers in November, it will offer a choice of chassis: Sport for everyday driving, or Cup for a more dynamic ride.
The hot hatch is powered by a revised 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, giving 250bhp – that’s 20bhp more than the previous-generation R26.R.
It features extended wheelarches, side sills, a rear diffuser and a centre-exit exhaust.
Also fitted is the Renaultsport Dynamic Management electronic skid control system, plus Renaultsport Monitor, which displays 0-60mph sprint and lap times.
