With deliveries beginning in May this year, the Evora is already establishing itself as one of the most talented performance cars of the year.

The sleek mid-engined 2+2 is powered by a 280bhp 3.5-litre V6 and is capable of 0-62mph in around five seconds. Better still, the newcomer only produces CO2 emissions of 205g/km.

With prices starting at £47,500, it's not cheap and lands the Lotus firmy in Porsche Cayman territory, but the Norfolk-based firm is confident it can hold its own.

And the Evora family looks set to expand, too. Lotus has already confirmed plans to develop an automatic model and even an Evora roadster, while a high performance version with more power is also likely.
