There's little that can prepare you for the XKR's sledgehammer performance. The XKR was already a classy package – but that hasn’t stopped Jaguar improving its flagship by fitting the firm’s new 5.0-litre – increasing power from 410bhp to 503bhp.

Available in coupe and cabriolet form, you have to keep an eye on the speedo, as the XKR is deceptively quiet and devastatingly quick. It covers 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds and goes on to an electronically limited 155mph.

Not only does it look gorgeous on the outside, he cabin is virtually faultless, too. The materials are superb, the seating position comfortable on long journeys and Jaguar reckons there’s even room for two sets of golf clubs in the boot.
