| Based on our test car, we would argue that this is the best quality car Aston Martin has ever built | |

FIVE STARS
First opinion
After the V12 Vantage, we didn’t think Aston could
build a more exciting car to drive, but in the refined Rapide, the firm
has scored a direct hit. Easily the most accomplished driver’s car in
the makers range it also delivers impressive refinement and
performance. We were impressed by the practicality too, but this car’s
knockout punch is the way in which it combines these two very different
characteristics in such a seamless fashion. Aston’s small but expert
band of engineers should be proud of themselves.

Its a looker but i share your thoughts that its a shame it couldn't be built in the UK. The rear does not look very spacious despite a 6-footer able to be sit in the rear. I expected for a 4 door to be a lot longer allowing a longer rear door and the roof profile to be a lot smoother as it ends to the rear. Seems like a slight hunch back at the rear bit like the horrible 4-door porsche. The rear seats i'd expect to be as spacious as the fronts with a lot more room to spare especially for the legs. Seems a bit rushed but you can't beat an Aston badge or its looks :)
British workers are building it, they were employed here, in Gaydon, trained here in quality control and precision and things like that. Then were moved over to the plant in Austria. The plant where the Rapides are being built, has been constructed and has gone under stringent revamp to replicate the plant in Gaydon to maintain the high quality of the car's built quality and make sure everything is as it should be.
Granted not all of the workers there are British, but rest assured, it is still a British car. With British design, and Proper British Heritage. I love it, it looks, sounds and goes fantastically.
I do like the look of the Rapide and it's far better executed than the ugly big Porsche, however when I read 'saloon' i expect to see a boot lid like on the Quattroporte and XJR.....this looks like a hatchback to me. Look how the hatch opens.
The rear seat width is VERY thin - I can only assume Dan Strong weighs less than 8 stone and is 'at one' with the praying mantis pose! Absolutely gorgeous to look at but the Maserati GT is bigger, better looking & cheaper.
Perhaps the Maserati is bigger and cheaper- but, better looking? You must be kidding. Maserati hasn't produced a good looking car since the Ghibli. I can't imagine many people preferring the oddball proportions of any current Maserati to this car.
driven a Maserati Quattroporte, GT, GT S, an Aston Martin DB7 Volante & DB9 on the road as well as around the Millbrook Proving Ground. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

What a great looking car the Rapide is, starting off as a two door car. It is such a shame it is not being built in the UK by British workers! I hope the used prices stay high and wonder when we will see the first one on Astonfinder.com for sale?
