The Jazz defies conventional class boundaries, as it blurs the lines between a supermini and the latest generation of practical small MPVs. Yet however you choose to define it, the little Honda won’t disappoint.
The latest model secured an 11th place finish in our Driver Power survey – the highest of any supermini – and came second in our reliability rankings. If you want fuss-free motoring, the versatile cabin, nimble handling and smooth engines seal the deal. And the i-SHIFT robotised manual box also makes a fine fist of automatic changes, to take the hassle out of the driving experience.

I have had my Honda Jazz since late 2003, had 11,000 on the clock when I bought it, since then I have added 92,000 miles, the only thing needing attention was the gearbox, but that was my bad habit of resting my hand on the gear lever, other than that it has never let me down, ever. I can carry more things than in my wife's estate car!
Reliable - yes!
My wife's got a previous-model Jazz, 8 years old, with the excellent CVT 'box. It's a model of reliability and cheap to service. It's not the most refined of motors - noisy at speed and a crashy ride - but its ability to swallow large loads is phenominal. My car is is A Mercedes C180K of similar vintage with only 50k on the clock but lots of (expensive) niggly things going wrong. But it is ultra-comfortable and refined, for its age. What will I get next? Honda Accord, Toyota Avensis .......
