Skoda Fabia

Economy: 67.3mpg, CO2/road tax: 109g/km/£20

Skoda Fabia

November 2010

A recent revamp has given the Fabia a fresh face and a range of efficient new powerplants – and the supermini still upholds Skoda’s reputation for great value.

Economy star of the line-up is the VW Group’s refined 1.6-litre common-rail diesel. It comes with 75bhp, 90bhp or 105bhp, and is capable of returning 67.3mpg, regardless of output. CO2 emissions of 109g/km only add to the appeal.

The cabin is as roomy and solid as ever, and although the car can’t match a Fiesta for fun, a composed ride and decent refinement make it a top buy. There’s also a versatile estate.
