Aston Martin Cygnet

Possibly the strangest new car of 2011 – it's a re-badged Toyota iQ costing around £30,000

Aston Martin Cygnet

January 2011

To many it seemed like a joke, but in 2011 the Aston Martin Cygnet will become a production reality. Based on the Toyota iQ but completely reworked both inside and out, the Cygnet will be Aston’s eighth new model in the last six years.

It’s mechanically identical to the 1.3-litre iQ, with emissions below 120g/km, but the sumptuous makeover will push the price to £30,000. Bosses believe their traditional sports car customers need a small urban runabout, but won’t compromise on luxury.

Consequently, they will have the same level of personal choice and bespoke options they would get when ordering a V8 Vantage or DB9.
