Welcome to New Car Awards 2009
IT has been another blistering year for new cars. The credit crunch has forced manufacturers to work harder than ever for sales - and the result is more desirable, efficient and practical new cars than ever before. Of course, some are better than others, and now it's time for us to name the best as we recognise the models that dominate their rivals in the Auto Express New Car Awards 2009. Only cars that have been put through a comprehensive Auto Express test in right-hand-drive form are eligible for our awards, and this year we hand out a total of 22 trophies, including 17 class awards, plus our all-important Car of the Year. On top of that, our Design Award pays tribute to the best design of the last 12 months, as voted for by you, while our Special Award recognises the new vehicle manufacturer, technology or initiative that delivers the biggest benefits to motorists. And for the first time, we present our Person of the Year award.
