Problem only with the cars anti pollution filtration system.it needs cleaning out around 100000 miles and drags the speed back to crawling pace unexpectedly when the system detects a filtration potential blockage. when it happens it is unexpected and can be at a time when it does so in a dangerous situation. No matter how carefully driven I can't get any more than 34.4 mpg on average over a 5000 miles span.the manufacturers figures for mpg are at best over optimistic or deliberately misrepresented. No problem.it is a 2.2 l engine and has sufficient torque and bhp to drive sensibly and enough power to pull away quickly when needed.

C5 saloon: Good looking. Well put together. Comfortable with spacious boot ( important after having C5 estate). The engine is impresive 1.6 turbo diesel with good power band giving more than enough performance and fuel economy of 57.8mpg on 2000 miles holiday to the South of France one week after purchase, town work gives a reasonable 45-50mpg. This gives reasonable insurance and road tax with good co2 emmisons. Why would you bother with a small car other than being able to afford a C1 town car.

Icredibly economical 50+ mpg from the 2.0 diesel 6 speed manual, not as spacious as the previous C5. Regret not going for the panaramic roof, as the windows are tiny and too heavily tinted. Brakes and handling are great, car looks good. Cabin is quiet, rear view mirrors are a good size, car is easy to park considering the length, and the additional head light which comes on lighting corners when turning is great.

It's only one stopped at the roadside when the dealer didn't replace the battery cable correctly. everything that has needed replacing under warranty has been booked in at a convenient time. since the warranty expired the reliability has been better. touch wood! Routine servicing is cheap and easy for diy. fuel costs are brilliant with 46mpg for a large car with 173bhp.

this is the C5 estate bought with space and economy and cheapness in mind. This is the largest car that does over 40 mpg, it has now done 147,000 miles upto now and never fails to start or break down. I have owned many cars from new and this has proved to be the best one yet including Jags BMW Renaughs Fords I have owned from new. Bought this when I retired very cheap.

I am very pleased with all aspects of my C5 estate. It suits my relaxed driving style, is very comfortable, quite quiet, economical to run and has proved entirely reliable. The one downside is that since it is not a small car it is dificult to park in small spaces.I prefer the appearance of the C5Mk2 to the "German" C5.

The Citroen C5 Estate is my first NEW car and I am very pleased with it overall being very quiet and comfortable. The only disappointment is the fuel economy which appears to be a fair way off the official figures. However the milage is still low for a diesel engine so hopefully this will improve.

Dmf failure, aircon failure, external temp sensor failure, drivers seat worn out already. Servicing every two years so not too bad, but citroen spares are expensive so I buy genuine cit spares from cit franchise dealers on ebay at cheaper cost. mpg is acceptable for large car.

Citroen adjustable suspension, auto/manual gearbox, good all-round vision, plenty of space for 5 and cruise control makes for effortless motoring anywhere. Pity about the amazon jungle green colour! - but then I spend most of my time on the inside so I don't notice it.

I love it - Did when I saw it which made me spend more than intended and am still happy with it and will keep it until it falls apart as it still looks good and drives well, so much that when taking parents out in it they went and bought a Citroen

3 breakdowns in 155,000 miles none of which immobilised the car tell their own story. Fuel cost a bit high but that is to be expected with auto transmission and the consumption figure of 40mpg over 155,000 miles is totally acceptable.

Engine sounds rough and had to change an air con part otherwise very good. Would like a more economical car paying less tax but need a large interior as I'm 6'5" and xl. better than previous two cars that did 14mpg & 20mpg.

My 3rd new Citroen. All excellent cars. Would not hesitate to have another. The C5 in particular is a car that would sell in bucket loads to the badge snobs if it wore a 3 pointed star, 4 rings or blue and white propeller.

Never missed a beat except when a mouse ate through a rubber bulb. Considering I drive quite fast the economy is brilliant, however the servicing costs at main dealers can be silly.

Pleasantly surprised. Only got it because the contract hire deal was so good and I liked the look of it. Very nice car overall, the worst point is the lack of feel in the steering.

I have owned three bmw 3 series and this car is by far the most luxurious quitest and smoothest riding. also has a huge amount of power its a superb car! Well done Citroen!

Nothing has yet gone wrong. On a long motorway journey ! achieve 53 mpg, but local running reduces this to 45 mpg. at 6-month old, there has been no servicing costs yet.

Bargain used buy. Generally reliable. Very good fuel economy (1.6 HDi - 50mpg). Very good ride comfort. Seems prone to premature headlight bulb failure.

overall good, economical car but the manufacturers have a monopoly on their own parts causing unexpected additional costs to the owners when repairing.
