Great car - cheeky styling, still gets lots of attention from passers by. The online forums are helpful for any troubleshooting or questions relating to the vehicle. The BSM contract with Fiat may well have harmed the resale value of the car, but its value is still well above the purchase price on the governmen'ts scrappage scheme - a particularly good deal on this car as it's very rarely disounted from new by Fiat dealers. The cheap road tax and running costs are another attractive feature of the car. The Blue and Me technology pack and the Fiat Eco-Drive software have also been very useful. I would definitely choose another Fiat again.

Would be 5, except faulty rear handbrake latch fails to work, so I can't park my abarth on a hill. been fixed under warranty once, now broken again. Excellent considering the power, torque and the fact it's petrol. my highest average consumption over a 25 mile commute to work through towns and long b-roads was 49mpg. typically my average mpg is between 35-40 when exploiting the performance. Excellent torque from really low down and loads of power to keep revving. can overtake in any gear. loves to be revved, but you don't have to rev it to make good progress.

Test drove the Fiat 500 on a whim ( a colleague at work loves hers) and found that it made me smile (not many cars can do that) . My previous car, a Honda Jazz, was brilliant but a tad boring, whereas the Fiat is just a total laugh and great fun to drive. The styling is fab and the glass roof makes it feel much roomier than it first appears. Can't grumble about 65 mpg and £35 road tax either. When that lottery win arrives it'll be the Fiat 500 Arbarth version for me

The car is absolutely tremendous; fun to drive, massively economical and funky to look at. It is also surprisingly roomy given its tiny exterior dimensions with allot more usable space than the mini (of which I am a fan and have three non BMW ones). I was nervous about the make but that was obviously unfounded given the fact that in over 20000 miles so far not any fault (or minor irritation or rattle) has developed despite my enthusiastic cornering. Brilliant!

Clucth pedal snapped off, stop start is rubbish,it rattles all the time.had a new exhaust after 2 years, drive shaft replaced due to knocking.all these thing happened in the first 2years. Tax is cheap, not bab on petrol.very good on types, back one's have done 70,000 miles.brakes do about 35000miles before replacement .

It needs little or no regular checks between it's annual service, fantastically reliable and cheap to run. A simple ł130 annual service at my regular dealer, cheap to insure and frugal to run on diesel.....oh, and it looks as cute as the day I bought it. no midlife makeovers for this model!

One significant failure where the clutch master cylinder failed. two minor failures, one where rear brake calipers start to seize on, other where front damper top mounts collapsed. Servicing is expensive, front tyres need replacing every 8000 miles, brakes wear quickly (approx 16000 miles).

10 years ago I would not have bought a brand new Fiat, but the 500 is a credit to the company, and their choice of new franchised dealers also shows they are turning the image of Fiat around. My 500 is a great little car that is fun to be in and cost very little to run.

I have had a couple of minor issues which have been fixed under warranty. Service costs are high for a little car. average mpg is poor but down to the way I drive! overall costs are ok..

Brilliant design, fun to drive and one of the few cars to have put a smile on my face. The 500 is a truly excellent car and is very cheap to run. I love it.

Very good, it does what we wanted it to do. But it fails to exceed in excess of 40 mpg round town, which I thought a modern car of this size would achieve.

I have never had a problem so far, except for a rattling fuel filler cap. It has only had the usual annual services, which have not been expensive.
