the car is an excellent drive, both in and around town and on the annual haul down to the south west. A little thirsty but can get mileage rising if driven thoughtfully on motorway runs.A very practical car, fits 4 adults easily and comfortably, plus the weekly shopping in the large boot space. Sound system is quality as is the roar from the engine, actually spend most of the time with the stereo on low just to listen to the warble from the pipes, lovely.
Safety is good with an abundance of air bags all round giving the occupants good protection should the worst happen.
Let down slightly with the lack of a decent turning circle, but compromises must be made when owning a car of this nature.
Overall, smiles per mile, this car is hard to beat. Can be driven gently around town using the engines amazing torque...have driven away in fourth gear with no noticeable lag. Or can take on cars costing three times as much and easily embarrass them. A cracker!

A good average practicable car, nothing great (except the chassis) but nothing bad either. Reasonable build quality (dashboard materials could be better) and good reliability. Fuel consumption (petrol) average but quite thirsty if driven slightly harder than normal. Handles very well, a little skittish over uneven surfaces and bumps. Slightly too low geared, could do with better cruising ratio in top. Servicing and parts very reasonable, excellent cam belt change intervals (Zetec). Suffers from rust on bottom of rear doors and boot lid. Seats not very comfortable on long journeys and cabin could be a little quieter (wind/engine noise) on motorway journeys. Overall, does most things what you want from it without much fuss, bother or cost.

Fantastic second hand buy, although with the high depreciation, i would not buy a new one unless heavy discounts. it is the zetec model so the ride is acceptable but the trade off is good as the handling is very good supported by minimal body roll. Servicing quotes are high from dealers but nothing has gone wrong yet (touchwood), apart from routine servicing required. Economy exceeds my expectations and i will find it very hard to pull myself away from this car. Does everything very well and it would be nit-picking to find something wrong, compared to the other cars available in the same class. Very pleased driver :)

My Focus ST is a fantastic ride all mod cons the RECARO heated seats are very comfortable on long journeys. Speed & acceleration are good to the only down sides are the turning circle of the car & the fuel consumption, build quality is good but starting to get rattle now, paint work is good, not to bad on the orange peel affect that you can see on some cars. Braking is excellent; although the callipers have started to go rusty, I think that better quality paint should be used.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my car. Regards John

This car has great handing but is so bad in many other areas, such as driving position and seat comfort, very poor material quality, unrefined engine and suffers from the worst turbo lag i have ever encountered meaning sixth gear is only posable from 50 mph upwards. This car new is over £20K and has measly equipment and a cheap and nasty interior , it is shamed by the likes of Volkswagen and Skoda. Ford need to drop the price of their cars by at least 30% before i would even consider buying another.

Badly conformed, dangerous visibilty, bad interior design, and above all very noisy.
Good performance, but fuel economy nowhere near Ford`s claims, never better than 40mpg against claims 50 to 60 mpg. Handling very good, but at the price of bumpy ride and unacceptable road noise.
Basically just another "noughties" Tonka toy designed to impress the Press, and look good in the brochure.
But probably the least awful of a pretty poor bunch of choices.

This is my first Ford after years of buying Japanese. It's on personal contract hire and I only chose it because it was on special offer. It has been a total revalation at the very least as good as Toyota and Honda and much much better than Mitsubishi. I had a bad experience with the dealer who carried out the first service Holiways of Hartlepool who did not do what they were paid to do and a complaint to Ford fell on stoney ground.

APART FROM A BATTERY PROBLEM JUST OUT OF WARRANTY I'VE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS WITH MY FORD FOCUS ST,FOR A SPORTS CAR IT'S VERY SMOOTH AND SUPPLE IN THE RIDE DEPARTMENT AND CAN TAKE YOU A LONG JOURNEY WITH EASE.FUEL CONSUMPTION NOT THE BEST BUT HEY IT'S A SPORTS CAR.WE CAN NIP DOWN TO THE SHOPS OR HAVE A FAMILY DAY OUT AND IF I FEEL A NEED FOR SOME FUN IT'S ALL THERE.WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT FROM A CAR?

It's a nice car to drive, good fuel consumption if you dont thrash it, but if you want to thrash it, then its got the power there.
I find the handling is very good, and the steering is nice, and an added bonus is that you can change the steering settings, from sport, standard and comfort. So depending on how you want to drive, you have a few options.
Overall I would recommend this car to anyone!

Nearly 5 years old now and just changed rear tyres at 56000! all it has cost me in 4.75 years is a new alternator and some front tyres, outstandingly reliable, comfortable and handles like a supercar. Very practical with a cavernous boot and roomy interior. Only one complaint the single reversing light is nothing short of pathetic, but thats me being really pedantic.

Excellent. Reliable, not too expensive to run, good to drive, comfortable and relatively spacious. Ride a bit firm on pot-holed city streets and boot could be deeper, but otherwise delighted. Next car will probably need to be a in different sector to Focus, but would certainly consider Ford again.

Superb workhorse! I do a lot of DIY so often carry awkward loads. My FOCUS estate has been first rate. I needed to replace the clutch after 100,000 miles, and the water pump siezed up shortly before that. Nothing else has ever gone wrong. Just replace the tyres, service regularly and drive!

Fantastic Ford. I didn't expetc that much when I bought the Focus as a second car, but it consitently gets us there and we often choose it in preference to other newer cars on the drive, becuase the ride and comfort are excellent. I've only had it for ten years because its too good to sell.
