Ford Mondeo Running Costs
Overall Average Rating: 88.92%
Position in the Top 100 cars: 11th
All eyes are on the Mondeo – and it hasn’t disappointed. This is a fine family car that has given Ford its highest-ever finish and proves it’s not only low-volume cars that can provide satisfaction.
A question mark hangs over reliability, but huge practicality, strong brakes and a smooth ride all impress.
Manufacturer Verdict (Position: 21st)
Having made progress in 2008, Ford has dropped back again this year. It’s 12 places higher than rival Vauxhall, and its cars are rated for practicality and handling. Yet owners’ main gripe is reliability.

Having has a peugeot 306 and a nissan micra and a peugeot 306 estate the n a ford focus diesel x plate estate.
I find the Ford Mondeo Diesel 1998c.c. Ghia very special, with all the economy- electrics-space-power-speed-quiet ride-55 mph in 6th-30 mph in fifth-gives me economy abound.
I'D LIKE SOME ONE TO SHOW ME A CAR AT £3,500 TO DO THE SAME.
FORD, I PASSED MY TEST IN A FORD CONSUL(DAD'S) OVER 100,000 MILES ON THE CLOCK.
BEEN THROUGH MANY CARS,THIS HAS TO TAKE SOME BEATING,IF THE PREVOIUS OWNER HAS CARED FOR IT,IT WILL GIVE YOU WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN!!
CHEAP AS GOOD AS ANY AUDI -JAGUAR-VW-BETTER THAN ALL VAUXHALLS PEUGEOT,S- ETC.
BUY ONE 2ND HAND DRIVE IT TEST IT THEN DECIDE.
I GO WITH THESE
THERE ARE STILL ON THE ROAD FROM 1993 ONWARDS TAXI'S SIT AROUND ON W X PLATES.

Excellent. The only significant niggle is that the reversing lights are inadequate: it's difficult to reverse precisely at night -- the reversing light is a white 'glow' behind you, which does not give me a sharp picture of what's there.
But, overall a cracking car -- very practical (it's an Estate), drives very well, it's big but very controlable, handles very well, it's very well 'specced' (Titanium X), good economy (over 40mpg) -- and it looks and feels good.

I bought this car second hand and ever since I have owned it has continually leaked and caused the carpets to be damp and the seats to have green mildew on them. Economy wise I get about 70 miles on £20 of petrol which is poor and I don't hammer the care ever. To sum up the Mondeo was recommended by a lot of motor magazines but I have been very disappointed with this car and will never buy another one and I will not be buying a Ford again.

FOR IT'S AGE, AND MILEGAGE (ALMOST 80,000), THIS CAR (A MONDEO ESTATE), HAS BEEN A GREAT 'WORKHORSE' WITH MINIMAL COSTS INVOLVED FOR REPLACEMENT ITEMS SUCH AS A RECENT NEW EXHAUST.
INDEED WE HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THIS CAR AS WE NEED A LARGE SPACIOUS BOOT FOR OUR BUSINESS, AND WE WOULD CERTAINLY CONSIDER ANOTHER MONDEO ESTATE IN THE FUTURE AS THIS ONE HAS NEVER LET US DOWN (SO FAR..!)

This is the second ST220 I have owned, the first being brand new whilst this one was six months old through Ford Direct. I bought this car after having a very good experience with my previous car. The only negative factor being resale values which makes buying nearly new much more sense. I will consider Mondeo Titanium models and Focus ST/RS models when buying my next car.
Cost: 3/5
08-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years
very good economical workhorse, with good interior finish. For some reason sealing strip on doors seems to get caught by all users of the car which occasional cause it to pull out of clips.
Bluetooth arrangement with radio superb, makes car phones safe to use.
Hiding MP3 connector in glove box seems pretty stupid to me as then have cable coming out the side.

56-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years
I have been really pleased. Servicing has been very reasonable, my 2.2litre diesel costs less to service than my previous Nissan Note 1.6 petrol. Insurance is OK too. My overall MPG is @40 which given that my driving style is quite lively is very reasonable. The Ford is very well equiped, heated/cooling seats, cruise control, climate etc.

07-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years
Apart from water "ingress"!! in the boot of my st, it's brilliant. Only my second diesel (prev sri), its smooth, easy to drive, 54mpg long haul. . . but 36mpg stop start local or foot down, Usual running costs, nothing untoward. Wear in front tyres (Conti's) after being replaced last March otherwise love it. Thinking of chipping.

My Mondeo v6 estate is a great family car whilst having a bit of power to take it out of the boring zone.
it performed multi tasks of being large enough to take the family and their gubbins, quick and wieldy enough to entertain me, cheap to buy and reliable to run - its olny down fall being low fuel economy
Cost: 2/5
54-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years
This car has been brilliant, its fantastic practically, the handling is great, its easy to drive and considering its a 2 litre petrol the economy is better than expected considering its size. Also maintenance costs are reasonable. this is the 2nd mondeo estate I have owned and I would definitely buy another.
Cost: 4/5
X-reg Petrol, Owner for More than 5 years
Reliability is not to bad but the quality is nothing short of a disgrace. I have had water seeping into the boot and cabin ever since I bought the car, which of course effects the electrics. Also the economy is very poor averaging about 20mpg around town and this when driving slow and steady
Cost: 1/5
09-reg Diesel, Owner for Less than a year
Fantastic mix of entertaining and precise driving characteristics from a large practical family car that provide luxury car standars and eqiptment and relaibility for value price when bought pre registered. Expensive if buying at list price

I'm very happy with it as a family car estate so very usefull for big loads good towing performance and tow weight so good with caravan economy is good for a big car. Running costs low never broken down so can't really fault it.

51-reg Diesel, Owner for 1 to 3 years
Overall very good. One or two engine problems which many modern refined diesels seem to have. Excellent combination of ride & handling, power and economy. I would definitely consider buying another Ford Mondeo TDCi.

04-reg Petrol, Owner for Less than a year
An excellent car with a nice drive and plenty of power even when fully loaded with 3 kids and shopping, and the only thing that has gone wrong is the cat converter, which was easily and cheaply sorted.

My Mondeo ST is everything i wanted and needed in a car.. Room, Comfort, Performance and Economy. I can out run any boy racer but still make 50mpg. The perfect balance wrapped in a beautiful shell.
Cost: 5/5
53-reg Petrol, Owner for 3 to 5 years
The ST220 has proved to be an excellent car. Thirsty yes but cheap to service, well putntogether and a great all rounder. Ignore the badge and it puts lots of aspirational German metal to shame.
Cost: 4/5
R-reg Petrol, Owner for 1 to 3 years
Great car, cheap to buy and to run , ok, its a 2.5 mondeo but for te cost of the car great. Fords have never let me down and that is fine for me. I wash and wax every week and service when needed.

Good car let down by the supplying dealer and the initial attitude of Ford. Once referred to a Ford senior manager corrective action commenced and is currently ongoing with Ford development.

No complaints at all and never regretted buying this car. I may have been lucky but, based on this particular car, the Mondeo is by far the best in its class and price range.

54-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years
Good to drive long distances, good performance/economy trade off. Cost of ownership badly affected by failure of dual-mass flywheel, starter motor and rear wheel bearing.
Cost: 3/5
53-reg Petrol, Owner for Less than a year
NIce build, decent handling, nice to drive but takes a lot of power to get moving, is a bit sluggish and doesn't come anywhere near the manufacturers stated mpg figures

So far an excellent vehicle--much improved on the last one
One small gripe is the hatchback design allows water into the boot when you lift it during or after rain
Cost: 5/5

It is a good work horse, but not overly exciting. Does what is says on the tin. However, it can be difficult to work on owing to a lack of space under the bonnet.

The car reviews stated this was a good car, I beg to differ.
I have had better cheaper older cars than this. Tyre wear is the worst that I have ever had.
